In Algeria, tourism is a bit like the other oil, the second "black gold." The former has already asserted its importance and the quality of its proved reserves, its obvious socio-economical effect, its relatively steady incomes, and yet notable ones.
But, contrary to the black gold, the one presently called forth, of a rather-turkish-blue shade northward, of brown-hematlae southward, shows unrivalled characteristics with all other prospects listed within the Algerian register.
Counthess numbers of a wide variety of "ores" not completely classified yet, just like "a land where by all earth-ages are found" , wildlife reserves diversified in a wonderful manner, and yet inhexaustible, safeguarded ecological sites ; all of which are flooded by a so generous sun, present all year-round and on each and every place and rythm : sea, tell, Atlas, Sahara.
In a word, Algeria is a destination, and even an ideal one owing to the proximity of the issuing markets, but still an untapped destination, not developed, here exists a tremendous potential, certainly shaped since humanity dawn; but which still remain wild, dormant.
Let's cast an eye at the world map, Algeria is, at a first glance just right in its canter, This wide polygon of about 2 millions of km², with its eight (8) borders totalizing 7000 km, 1200km of which are coasts overlooking the Mediterranean sea. Such an extent, deeply sunk within the African bulb, owes, it to be ranked the tenth world greatest country, and the second on the African scale, just behind countries such as China, Russia, the USA, Australia, India, Sudan, etc..
And that's not the last of it. Besides its privileged situation bestowed by its centralized geographic position, and adding to the fact that it is placed, thanks to history, at the extreme road-crossing of Western, Eastern and African civilizations, today, Algeria can only be acknowledged as an unavoidable crossroad, of an utmost rareness.
And if ever such is its wonderful "geographical fate", it's only because it is still encompassed by two big communication routes north-south and east-west.
So, how can one not be envious of its being, centuries back, a transit area between such different worlds?
How not to be envious of its art, with a so fine touch, to marry such a variegated nature as that of the Mediterranean up hills with the mystical fascination of the ineffable Saharan spaces? How can we not envy this ability to present, through the legendary majesty of the Djurdjura, Aures, and the Ouarsenis and the impressive megalithic stature of the Tassili and the Hoggar, such unique destinations, whereby the freedom, adventure, and wonder are not so vain? Algeria, as a matter of fact, has more than a reason to pride itself on a deep Mediterranean, unshakable, lined with an effective continentally, unchangeable? It is, on its own, a state-continent!
