16 Days The Stanley Wing Safari Tour Package
Duration: 16 Days / 15 Nights Priced From: $8,765 pp dbl. occ. Dates: Jul - Dec, Jan - Aug

Our most comprehensive and perhaps the most popular safari we offer, the Stanley is a magnificent journey through Kenya and Tanzania, with luxuriously long stays in each game park, abundant time for rich wildlife viewing sessions and five exhilarating flights to expedite travel from one game park to another.
Beginning the adventure in Nairobi, our accommodations are at the legendary Norfolk Hotel from where grand safaris have embarked since 1904. A Safari Briefing answers all of our questions, while a lecture by respected Maasai Elder Rakita sets the stage for the exciting events to come. Our stay in Nairobi also affords detailed city sightseeing, including Giraffe Centre where we may hand feed endangered Rothschild giraffes, along with a lunch and lecture at the homestead of Kiambethu Farms, Kenya’s oldest tea plantation.
Culminating our first day is a delightful lunch or dinner with Felix and Jane Pinto at their home high atop Lavington Hill, overlooking Nairobi. After only one visit with the Pintos you will already feel like “well-loved, outof- town relatives,” as declared by Travel+Leisure magazine.
We begin our foray into the bush the following day with a flight to Amboseli National Park. Here we see abundant wildlife and the legendary Maasai tribesmen tending their cattle in the shadows of snow-topped Mount Kilimanjaro. After two nights we fly to Tarangire in Tanzania, a game park with thousands of majestic baobab trees dotting the rolling countryside. It is also home to enormous herds of elephants and the highest number of recorded bird species for any habitat in the world. The Tarangire River runs through the land, providing a permanent water source and along with it, the promise of strong wildlife year round.
We next journey to the incomparable Ngorongoro Crater, a natural caldera spanning over 100 square miles. This stunning creation of nature is home to tens of thousands of animals, as well as numerous Maasai tribesmen and their cattle. We encounter rhino, elephant, buffalo, leopard and lion, as well as hippo, zebra and antelope. The stunning vistas combine with the drama of the world within the crater to take your breath away.
Then comes the vast expanse of the Serengeti. This legendary reserve supports large populations of lion, leopard and other predators that follow the great migrating herds. Hippo, elephant, giraffe and a wide variety of exotic birds are also in abundance. En route to the Serengeti we stop to tour the fossil beds at the Olduvai Gorge, made famous by the discoveries of Louis and Mary Leakey.
After two heady days in the Serengeti, we fly to the Africa of our dreams, the Maasai Mara in Kenya. Remarkable events are planned in this location. In addition to rich game drives, we will thrill to the romance of a bush cocktail party set high upon the Mara Escarpment at sunset. A Maasai village visit will also take place—always a memorable experience—and our nights are spent in the splendour of a luxury tented camp.

This evening, we enjoy the delightful hospitality of Felix and Jane Pinto at their home for cocktails and dinner. Fine food, good conversation and warm camaraderie top the evening. Upon returning to our hotel, we already feel like old African hands.
Day 4 – Day 5 Amboseli In the morning we board our flight to the bush country of Amboseli National Park, where dramatic views of Mount Kilimanjaro dominate every vista. Amboseli is famous for its tranquil beauty and easily approachable wildlife—an excellent way to begin our game viewing expeditions. Early morning and late afternoon game drives are made daily. Amboseli Serena Lodge/Ol Tukai Lodge.
Day 6 Tarangire National Park Today we drive to Arusha, Tanzania, for lunch and fly to Tarangire. With a permanent water source, the park is virtually guaranteed enormous herds and excellent game viewing including cheetah, lion (some tree climbing!), leopard and hyena and a herd of 3,500 elephants. The park is also host to a number of rare species including eland, oryx, kudu and gerenuk. Our accommodations are at Tarangire Sopa Lodge, a tranquil oasis overlooking the rolling plains.
Day 7 – Day 8 Ngorongoro Crater
A lovely drive takes us to Ngorongoro Crater, where our lodge sits dramatically on the rim of the crater, revealing an awesome panorama of the world’s largest, unflooded and unbroken caldera. On our second day, we descend into the crater and spend the morning hours tracking animals. This magnificent natural amphitheatre is said to have the largest concentration of animals in all of Africa, including a high density of lions and thousands of flamingos. The everchanging mood of this great amphitheatre will hold our attention every second. Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.
Day 9 – Day 10 Serengeti National Park A visit is made to renowned Olduvai Gorge where the Leakey family uncovered the fossil Homo habilis (the handy man), the first tool user, living over 1.75 million years ago. Then we reach the Serengeti, deep in the heart of the largest and most diverse migration corridor in the world. Wild beasts, creatures of every size and description, flood the savannah in droves…herds of mammoth elephant, the stately giraffe and the lumbering rhino all mix together alongside their more diminutive inhabitants…the delicate antelope, bulky wildebeest and the comical warthog. And we hope to see it all! Serengeti Sopa Lodge.
Day 11 – Day 12 Maasai Mara We fly to the Mara via Arusha and Nairobi, and here we find the Old Africa of the movies, with rolling grasslands dotted by acacia trees and sweeping plains teeming with wildlife. No matter how much you have thought about Africa, this is more than you expected—and the ideal backdrop for a hot air balloon expedition. During our stay we also visit a village of the Maasai people to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience. But the greatest highlight will be the stunning Bush Sundowners—a glorious al fresco cocktail party overlooking the savannah at sunset. Mara Safari Club/Kichwa Tembo Camp.
Day 13 – Day 14 Mount Kenya Safari Club
Today we fly to Nairobi and continue by air across Kenya’s fertile Central Highlands—reminiscent of the English countryside—to the Mount Kenya Safari Club. Sprawled on the slopes of majestic Mount Kenya, this historic club offers luxury and relaxation, including such activities as golf, trout streams, horseback riding and tennis, as well as a charming animal orphanage. Our upgraded accommodations are in the original cottages of the club’s founders or in riverside bungalows. A two-night stay here provides ample time to explore surrounding game reserves including Ol Pejeta, home to Ol Morani, a habituated black rhino who enjoys being touched, as well as the Jane Goodall sanctuary for orphaned chimpanzees.
Day 15 Nairobi –Departure Flying to Nairobi, a hotel room is ours for the day. We can choose to visit an AmericaShare project, explore the shops or simply relax before our departure tonight. As we leave Africa we know that the old adage is true: You may leave Africa, but Africa will never leave you.
