The Classic Namibia is a combination of the Southern Namibia, Northern Namibia and the Etosha with 2 full days in Swakopmund. Fathom the magnitude of the Fish River Canyon, the second largest in the world. Experience the ever changing mountainous sea of the Namib Desert sand dunes at Sossusvlei. Survey the ancient rugged mountains in the untouched wilderness of Damaraland. And encounter the magnificent African wildlife in Etosha National Park.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1 - Windhoek to Kalahari Desert. Depart Windhoek for Rehoboth, capital of the Baster Community. There is a short stop where the history of the area is explained. Depart Rehoboth and travel to Kalkrand via the Tropic of Capricorn. Continue your journey and arrive at Kalkrand for a short comfort stop. After departing Kalkrand you will travel via Stampriet, look out for memorials of German soldiers from the HereroWar in 1904 -1906. Arrive at your lodge in the Kalahari Desert where you can enjoy refreshments before proceeding on a game drive with a sundowner drink served on top of a Kalahari dune. Aoub Lodge D
Day 2 - Kalahari Desert to Fish River Canyon. Depart your lodge early and travel through the Kalahari Desert to Koes to view the Kalahari dunes. Depart Koes and continue to the Quiver Tree (Kokerboom) Forest. The forest has over 250 of these unique trees in total whose name derives from the San hunters, who used a dead branch as a quiver for their arrows. Continue to Keetmanshoop for a lunch stop (optional & own account). Depart Keetmanshoop and continue to the Naute Dam (2nd largest dam in Namibia) before continuing the journey to your lodge for your overnight stay. Optional sundowner walk from the lodge. Note: Sundowner walk is not suitable for elderly or infirm passengers as it involves some steep climbs. Canon Lodge BD
Day 3 - Fish River Canyon to Aus After breakfast travel to the Hobas campsite, an entrance to the Fish River Canyon. Arrive at the entrance and visit the main viewpoint, Hikers Point and Table Mountain viewpoint. We will then continue our journey towards Aus. Stop just before Aus at the site of a POW camp for over 2500 interned German soldiers from WW1. Continue to Aus Information Centre where you can enjoy a light Lunch (own account). Stop at the Garub waterhole to view the feral horses before arriving at your lodge. Go for a walk or join a sun downer drive (own account). Desert Horse Inn BD
Day 4 - Aus to Maltahoehe Region. Depart Aus towards Helmeringhausen via the Neisip Plain. Road conditions permitting, travel on one of Namibia's most beautiful district roads, the D707, along the Tiras Mountains to Betta. Arrive at your rest camp early afternoon, relax at the pool or take part in a guided tour to see various wild cats in a nearby enclosure (own account). Hammerstein Rest Camp BD
Day 5 - Maltahoehe to Namib Naukluft Park. Early breakfast before travelling to Sesriem. Arrive at the gate (sunrise) and travel to Sossusvlei through the Tsauchab River Valley and view some of the highest dunes in the world. Arrive at the 4x4 station where you will board 4 x 4 vehicles and a travel along the river bed into the heart of the Namib Desert. Return to the 4 x 4 station, and continue the journey in your touring vehicle to the Sesriem Canyon. Depart the canyon and travel past the Naukluft Mountains to your lodge for your overnight stay. Day 6 - Namib Naukluft Park to Swakopmund.After breakfast travel via Solitaire and Kuiseb Canyon to the desert plains of the Namib. Arrive at Walvis Bay at the coast in time for lunch (own account). Visit the Walvis Bay Lagoon - considered to be one of the most important wetlands in the world. Flamingos, pelicans and other water birds can be seen here. Depart Walvis Bay and travel to Swakopmund for check-in at your hotel. In the afternoon travel to the Moon landscape – an area which was formed by intense volcanic rock over 200million years. Roads permitting, see a Welwitschia mirabilis – one of the most unique plants on earth. Enjoy a sundowner en-route, on the beach or in the dunes before dinner. Hansa Hotel. BD
Day 7 - Swakopmun Today you will have a full day at leisure. You can either spend the day exploring Swakopmund or book an optional tour. B
Day 8 - Swakopmund. Today you will have a full day at leisure. You can either spend the day exploring Swakopmund or book an optional tour. Note: At dinner you might meet fellow passengers joining the Northern Namibia Tour module. BD
Day 9 - Swakopmund to Damaraland. Depart Swakopmund and travel to Henties Bay. Drive through the town before heading into the desert. Continue to Uis, a former mining town before traveling to Twyfelfontein, one of the most important archaeological sites in Namibia to see rock paintings and engravings. There is a stop to enjoy a packed lunch. After lunch, visit the Organ Pipes and the Burnt Mountain. Continue the journey to Damaraland to arrive at your lodge for overnight in the late afternoon. Day 10 - Damaraland. Enjoy a morning scenic drive in rocky Damaraland with a guide from the lodge. Return to the lodge for lunch. Join a guided walk where you are introduced to the rich flora and fauna of this area or spent the afternoon at leisure. BLD
Day 11 - Damaraland to Otjiwarongo. After breakfast we travel to Kamanjab. Near Kamanjab we will visit a Himba village and learn more about the culture and the tradition of this half-nomadic people. Continue our journey we have a short lunch stop in Outjo (optional and own account). Depart Outjo and continue to Otjiwarongo for overnight. BD
Day 12 - Otjiwarongo to Etosha National Park.
Note: There might be fellow passengers arriving from Windhoek to join the Etosha Tour module.
Join a local guide on a guided walk through the game park surrounding your Lodge. Possibly see giraffe and antelopes from close by, get introduction into farm and wildlife management; and the history of Otjiwarongo, one of the old towns in Namibia. Travel to Outjo and stop for lunch (own account). Continue to Etosha National Park and proceed on a game drive in your touring vehicle. Leave the park before sunset and arrive at your safari camp or lodge outside the park for dinner and overnight. Safari Camp or Private Lodge outside EtoshaPark (2 nights) BD
Day 13 - Etosha National Park.Today is a full day of game drives and exploring the various waterholes along the saltpan. There is a lunch stop at one of the rest camps (optional & own account). Continue on your game drive. Leave the park before sunset and arrive at your safari camp or lodge outside the park for dinner and overnight. BD

Day 15 - Lake Otjikoto to Windhoek. Depart the rest camp or lodge and travel south towards Otjiwarongo. There might be a stop at Otavi, the centre of Namibia's maize growing region, to drop passengers who connect to the 6 day Caprivi Traverse tour. Continue the journey to Windhoek via Otjiwarongo, where we will stop for lunch (optional & own account). Depart Otjiwarongo and travel to Okahandja. Visit craft market before continuing to Windhoek, where your tour ends upon arrival.
