Arrive in spectacular Cape Town, also known as the “Mother City”. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The afternoon is at leisure to soak up the atmosphere of Cape Town and the waterfront area.
Day 3 Cape Peninsula tour
See for yourself how this spectacular southern tip of Africa became known as the 'Fairest Cape'. See how this spectacular southern tip of Africa became known as the ‘Fairest Cape’. Begin with a stroll through the famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Drive past the pristine beaches of Camps Bay, Clifton and Llandudno – currently the hottest real estate in the world – to Hout Bay, a functioning harbor and heart of the local crayfish industry. Drive along the breathtakingly scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive, around the Atlantic Seaboard.
After a stop for lunch (own account), it’s on to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and its scenic viewing point. The amazing sea and mountain views are reason enough to make the 41 mile trip from Cape Town. Amid the rocky landscape – home to mountain zebra, eland and ostriches – blooms magnificent Cape flora. Continue along the coastline to the beautiful Boulders Beach where you can stroll along wooden walkways and enjoy viewing a colony of penguins. The last stop is at the naval port of Simon’s Town, the country’s third oldest European settlement.
Day 4 Winelands tour
A whole day dedicated to the indulgence and splendor of Africa's premier wine region. Escape to the beauty and tranquility of the Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch Winelands. The first stop is the Afrikaans Language Monument, perched on Paarl Rock, which offers sweeping views of the surrounding area.
Continue onto wineries of well-known estates to sample wines of merit, before visiting the Huguenot Monument and Museum in Franschhoek to discover the origins of this world renowned wine producing region. Enjoy lunch in one of the many fine restaurants in either Franschhoek or Stellenbosch (own account). Don’t miss the world-famous 19th century-style general dealer in Stellenbosch’s Dorp Street – Oom Samie se Winkel.
Day 5 Fly Cape Town to Maun
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Maun. On arrival, you will be met and assisted on to your small charter plane to the Okavango Delta.
The Okavango Delta is the largest freshwater wetland in Africa; in Botswana's arid and unforgiving bush it's an oasis where you'll find one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife in Africa – and the beauty is that it is basically a year-round destination for safaris.
Day 6 At leisure, Okavango Delta
The Delta offers unparalleled opportunities for bird watching, game viewing, fishing, photography, night drives and walking safaris. Eagles, Pel's Fishing Owls and Bee-eaters can be seen on a game viewing trip, on a traditional mekoro (dug-out canoe).
Day 7 Fly Okavango Delta to Linyanti
Enjoy your inter-camp air transfer.
On the southern banks of the Linyanti River, is the private Linyanti Wildlife Reserve. Here the marsh subsides into lagoons and steadily flowing rivers with riverine forests of jackalberry and sausage trees leading to open grasslands, and dry inland wooded areas.
Day 8 At leisure, Linyanti
Linyanti offers a variety of activities. They include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night drives and game and bird walks, canoeing in stable 'Canadian' canoes on the large lagoons and boating on the smaller waterways.
The Linyanti area is renowned for predators and large concentrations of game, particularly Elephant and Buffalo which move down to the Linyanti River at the start of the winter months (May-June) and only retrace their steps inland once the main rains arrive (late November-December).
Day 9 Fly Linyanti to Livingstone (Via Kasane)
Transfer to the airport for your onward flight. On arrival at Livingstone Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Zambia is well known for the Victoria Falls; locals call this phenomenon “Mosi-oa-tunya”, “The smoke that thunders”.
Day 10 At Leisure, Livingstone
Livingstone offers an ample array of activities; why not canoe above the falls, or whitewater raft below them? Plunge from the second highest bungee jump in the world from Victoria Falls Bridge. Explore the Mukuni and Maramba cultural villages for an opportunity to observe traditional daily life, or partake in an elephant back safari.
Day 11 Fly Livingstone to USA (Via Johannesburg)
Transfer to the airport for your departure flights.
