Itinerary
Days 1 - 4 - Depart for Tokyo, Japan
Depart from home on Sunday. Arrive in Tokyo and discover the Imperial Palace Plaza, Garden of the Meiji Shrine (Tokyo’s most magnificent Shinto shrine) and the entertainment district of Asakusa. Travel aboard the Tobu Express Train for a full-day excursion to Nikko and visit the Yomeimon Gate and the Toshogu Shrine.
Days 5 & 6 - Kyoto
Travel in a Bullet Train from Tokyo to Kyoto—center for traditional industries such as silk, embroidery, lacquerware, ceramics, doll-making and flower arranging. Experience a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony in a private home. In Nara, explore the lovely Deer Park surrounding the Todaiji Temple with its bronze Buddha Kasuga Shinto Shrine and its 3,000 bronze and stone lanterns.
Days 7 - 9 - Beijing, China
Experience exhilarating Beijing, a city packed with a thousand years worth of must-see destinations. Expect spectacular days as we discover Tiananmen Square, walk along the Great Wall—the only manmade structure visible from space—and discover the Temple of Heaven and the Imperial Palace (the Forbidden City).
Days 10 & 11 - Xian
In historic Xian, explore a city that once vied with Rome and Constantinople for the “greatest city in the world” title. Discover the partially-excavated terra cotta army of over 7,000 life-sized warriors, chariots, and horses, guarding the tomb of First Emperor Qinshihuang—a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also, visit Shaanxi Historical Museum, housing the most extraordinary collection of Chinese artifacts in the world.
Days 12 - 14 - Shanghai
Shanghai is China at its most luxurious and mysterious. Visit Nanjing Road, offering the most elegant shopping in all of China. Discover the spectacular Shanghai Museum of Art and History, the Jade Buddha Temple and Yu Gardens.
