10 Days Yunnan: Gateway to Shangri La Tour Package
Duration: 10 Days / 9 Nights Priced From: $2965 pp Dbl. Occ. Dates: Jan - Dec
The sixth largest of China’s provinces, Yunnan lies in the southwest part of the country. Towerings snow-capped mountains adjoin Tibet and Myanmar in the northwest, and lush tropical rainforests border Laos and Vietnam in the South. It is home to over 25 different ethnic groups, and half of the country’s plant and animal species. Begin your trip in Kunming, a place where lovely gardens co-exist with human achievements. In ancient times, Kunming was a gateway to the Silk Road. The city of Dali was first established in the early period of the Ming Dynasty and is home to the Bai. Glide through the crystal alpine waters of Erhai Lake and visit minority villages. Wander through the mysterious Stone Forest, formed of limestone peaks created by the erosion of the wind and water some 200 million years ago.
Drive to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site of Lijiang, located at the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain to view the famed thirteen peaks. Visit the dramatic Tiger Leaping Gorge on the Yangtze River—one of the deepest in the world. The old town is a wonderful maze of cobbled streets, old wooden houses, charming canals and a lively market of Naxi minority.
Lastly, travel to Zhongdian, where the Tibetan Songzanglin Monastery towers over the town, and stay at the brand new Banyan Tree Ringha Resort Shangri-la.
