Experience rural India when you explore Kanha National Park by four-wheel-drive vehicle and search for the elusive tiger in the Kanha Tiger Preserve. Throughout your journey, glimpse local life in villages and cities.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Mumbai and this afternoon, visit the Prince of Wales Museum; the Gateway of India; and Mani Bhawan, the former residence of Mahatma Gandhi.
Day 2 Fly to Nagpur and transfer to Kanha National Park, 360 square miles of sal and bamboo forests interspersed with grasslands and meandering streams. The park is the core of the Kanha Tiger Reserve.
Day 3 View game, including chital (spotted deer), gaur (Indian bison), sambar (large Indian deer), antelope and tiger by four-wheel-drive vehicle.
Day 4 Transfer to Pench and embark on a game drive in Pench National Park, the setting for Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. It is known for sambar, gaur and leopard, as well as tiger and civet.
Day 5 Enjoy morning and afternoon safari drives in 4x4 vehicles.
Day 6 After morning game viewing, fly to Delhi from Nagpur.
Day 7 This morning, embark on a tour of Old Delhi that includes Jama Masjid mosque and a rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk bazaar, with views of the Red Fort and Raj Ghat. This afternoon, visit Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, Rajpath and the India Gate.
Day 8 Fly to Jaipur and take a scenic drive to Alwar, deep in the heart of the Rajasthan countryside.
Day 9 The morning is free to enjoy the facilities and activities of your resort. This afternoon, travel by Jeep to Bhangarh and sit down to a picnic lunch while you view the splendid ruins of this now uninhabited city. Then proceed to the surrounding villages for a glimpse of local life.
Day 10 Travel overland through rural India, stopping at Fatehpur Sikri en route. Built by 16th-century Emperor Akbar as an act of gratitude to a penniless saint, Fatehpur Sikri is a beautifully preserved red sandstone city. Continue to the Bulund Darwaza, the largest gateway in the world. Then watch as the sun sets and the light reflects on the marble of the Taj Mahal.
Day 11 After a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal and a morning tour of Agra Fort and Itmad-Ud-Daulah, fly to Delhi.
Day 12 Board your homebound flight.
