Its rich traditional heritage and unique culture is a perfect foundation for the development of the city. Chiang Mai is one of the few places in Thailand where it is possible to find in the heart of the city centuries-old chedis and temples next to modern convenience stores and boutique hotels.

The old city of Chiang Mai with its fascinating indigenous cultural identity such as diverse dialects, cuisine, architecture, traditional values, festivals, handicrafts and classical dances is a prime location in its own right. In addition, the presence of hill tribes and their wealth of unique cultures enhance Chiang Mai's distinctive diversity.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1. Begin in Chiang Mai with a picturesque drive through hills, plains and steep slopes to the north. On the way, stop at the Maemalai local market to see the local vendors selling their fruits, vegetables, flowers and food. After, continue to the Hot Springs for a picnic lunch. Then begin a 1.5 hour trek through tropical evergreen forests arriving at a Karen Hilltribe Village at Baan Pong Noi. Then proceed your 2.5 hour trek to another Karen Hill tribe for dinner and overnight stay in a Karen Village home. LD

Day 2. After breakfast, explore the fascinating environs trekking to an Elephant Camp. Then take a 1.5 hour elephant ride into the jungle to Lahu Hilltribe Village. Enjoy lunch with the Lahu villagers. Then begin a 3-hour bamboo rafting activity down the curves and rapids of the twisty Mae Taeng River to Shan Village where a pick-up truck will take you back to Chiang Mai. BL
