Tour Itinerary Day 1. Hanoi to Halong Bay. Transfer this morning by road to Halong Bay to board the junk boat and set sail through bay after which lunch is served. Sail into the magical bay where thousands of sculpted limestone islands rise from the waves like dragons' teeth.
Day 2. Halong Bay to Hanoi. Greet the day with morning Tai Chi exercises while viewing the sunrise over the bay. After breakfast, visit a beautiful limestone grotto then it's back to the boat for a final glimpse of Halong Bay while cruising back to the dock. Return by road to Hanoi. Halong Bay is often called Vietnam's eighth wonder of the world and once visited, it is hard to dispute that claim. 3000 spectacular limestone outcroppings, cliffs, arches and coves compete for space in an area that is without doubt the most outstandingly naturally beautiful in the country - an incomparable coastal scenery. We hire a traditional Chinese-style sailing junk and meander through the area whose name translates as 'Where the Dragon Descends into the Sea', stop off at an islet and climb through a series of breathtaking caves and grottoes, marvelling at some of the most impressive stalactite and stalagmite formations anywhere in the world. The majestic beauty of the bay and its islands is only fully appreciated while meandering among the islands, fjords and inlets.
After lunch, take a short trek to a nearby summit for a panoramic view of the bay, go swimming on a quite beach or sunbathing on the sun deck. Late afternoon, visit an interesting fishing village with an opportunity to interact with fishermen who have been living in the bay for almost three generations. At sunset, kayak or simply take a bamboo row boat to discover a water tunnel with many coral reefs in a scenic lagoon. Back on board the boat, and enjoy cocktails while watching the sunset. LD
