Tour Itinerary
Day 1. North America/Hong Kong/Hanoi. Depart from your home city for the West Coast to connect with Cathay Pacific’s flight to Hong Kong.
Days 2-3. Hong Kong/Hanoi. Cross the international dateline and “lose” a day. On arrival in Hong Kong, change planes for Hanoi where you are met by a you'r representative and transferred to your hotel. Sheraton Hotel (2 nights) D
Day 4. Hanoi. Visit Ba Dinh Square, where Ho Chi Minh lies in state and the cottage where he lived and worked, Also visit the Ho Chi Minh Museum. See also the One Pillar Pagoda, and hear the legend of its construction. In the afternoon, visit the magnificent restored Opera House, the Lake of the Restored Sword, the city museum, the Temple of Literature and enjoy a walking tour of old Hanoi. This evening enjoy a performance of traditional art of water puppetry followed by dinner. BLD
Day 5. Hanoi/Danang/Hoi An. Fly today to Danang, one of the oldest cities in Vietnam, full of rich, cultural history. Continue to Hoi An, a jewel of a town which has managed to remain relatively untouched. On arrival, you will have a walking tour of Hoi An town. Visit the Japanese covered bridge and a Chinese communal house. Shop for art at one of the numerous galleries and enjoy the riverside ambience. Hoi An Beach Resort (2 nights) BD
Day 6. Hoi An. After breakfast, you will have a boat cruise to visit the Cam Ha pottery village. You will experience the local villagers performing their crafts. Village elders turn potting wheels while children shape vases, bowls and plates. Lunch at a local restaurant, then return by boat to Hoi An. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner at a local restaurant. BLD
Day 7. Hoi An to Hue. Travel overland through Cloudy Pass to Hue, once the religious, economic, and cultural centre of Vietnam. Visit the Imperial Citadel modeled on the Forbidden City in Beijing. Then visit Thien Mu Pagoda by boat, known for its architecture. Morin Hotel. BD
Day 8. Hue to Ho Chi Minh City. This morning, visit the Tombs of former Emperors Tu Duc and Khai Dinh, which are their eternal resting places. Later fly to Ho Chi Minh City. On arrival transfer to your hotel, remainder of the day at leisure. Sofitel Plaza (2 nights) BD
Day 9. Ho Chi Minh City. Today, enjoy a tour of Ho Chi Minh City which will include the former Presidential Palace, the History Museum, the Notre Dame Cathedral and Dong Khoi Street. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner at a local restaurant. BD
Day 10. Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Siem Reap, the base for exploring the fabled temples of Angkor, the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire. Afternoon visit this amazing site. Built more than a thousand years ago, it consists of more than 100 temples which are a reflection of a once grand social and administrative metropolis. Day 11. Angkor Wat. A full day visiting the sites of Angkor Wat, Ta Phrom and Preah Khan. Lunch at a local restaurant followed by a boat ride on the Tonle Sap lake where you will see fishing villages of bamboo thatched houses and the Sunken Forest. BLD
Day 12, Siem Reap to Bangkok.This morning, drive to Ton Le Sap Lake, the largest fresh water lake in South East Asia. Cruising on a small vessel, you will see floating homes and small fish farms and will experience daily lake life. On the way back to Siem Reap, you will visit a development project teaching young adults stone and wood carving at Les Artisans d' Angkor with its traditional crafts. This afternoon, you will be at leisure until your short flight to Bangkok. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day at leisure. In the evening, you will have dinner at the Sala Rim Nana restaurant and also enjoy a performance of classical Thai dancing. Rembrandt Hotel (3 nights) BLD
Day 13. Bangkok. Today's full day sightseeing includes a visit to Thailand's most colourful Damnoen Saduak Floating Market followed by a visit to Tiger Temple built in 1994 and surrounded by mountain ranges and natural forest. Also visit tiger Valley where tigers can be viewed taking their afternoon exercise outside of their cages. BLD
Day 14. Bangkok sightseeing. Today visit the famous Grand Palace and glorious temples including the Reclining Buddha. Then travel on a longboat through the Klongs (canals) to see a different kind of city life. Finally visit the Temple of Dawn. Afternoon is at leisure. B
Day 15. Bangkok/Hong Kong/North America. Transfer to the airport for the Cathay Pacific flights to North America via Hong Kong arriving the same day. B
