Your holiday commences the moment you board your scenic seaplane flight in Townsville or Cairns to travel over the unbelievable blue waters and enchanted isles rising from the Coral Sea beneath.
Orpheus Island Resort is one of the last privately owned island retreats in the world. Being the only property on the entire island, Orpheus is surrounded by 1300 ha of pristine untouched national park. With a limit of 21 private beachfront rooms and strictly limited to only 42 pampered guests serviced by attentive but unobtrusive staff. This is further enhanced by the exclusion of telephones, televisions, day-trippers, nightclubs or children under the age of 15 years.
More than any attraction or entertainment - exquisite cuisine - sustains the perfect holiday. Orpheus Island's much celebrated and ever changing menu featuring the freshest fruits of the land and sea, and some of the finest cuisine you will find on the Great Barrier Reef. Your palate will be pleased to discover that Orpheus is as famous for its fine gourmet cuisine as it is for its soft corals. However long you stay on Orpheus, you need never eat the same meal twice. The setting is a relaxed open-air restaurant with wonderful views across the ocean. Dining at Orpheus is the ultimate indulgence - from breakfast, to al fresco or gourmet picnic hamper lunches, and finally each evening a seven course degustation-style dinner.
Complimenting the peace and tranquillity of Orpheus Island Resort, the activities are plentiful. Imagine a lazy day in paradise with a picnic hamper on your own private beach with time to snorkel with an amazing array of tropical fish and coral. Or for the more adventurous, why not take a day trip and scuba dive on the outer reef, or board your own motorised dinghy and discover the many secluded bays of the Island's national park. This retreat also hosts a wide array of complimentary nature interpretive activities giving you the opportunity to interact and learn about this amazing and beautiful area. Or alternatively, you can opt to do nothing at all and just relax in a hammock by the beach. The options are endless. One certainty is that at Orpheus you will find the perfect sanctuary.
