Yellownife, the capital city, is located on the shores of Great Slave Lake, and is the gateway to the Arctic regions. Nunavut means "Our Land" in Inuktitut, and is home to the Inuit, who make up 85% of the territory's population. Take a tour to Gjoa Haven where the Magnetic North Pole was discovered by Amundsen, or travel by dogsled over traditional transportation routes. Baffin Island and Pangnirtung are gateways for an expedition to Auyuittuq National Park, preserve of stunning peaks and glaciers.
Southwestern Ontario is home to magnificent Niagara Falls, and Toronto, the provincial capital and Canada's largest city. In the east, visit historic Fort Henry in Kingston, or take a cruise through the enchanting Thousand Islands on the St. Lawrence. The jewel of the northern region is Algonquin Provincial Park, the wilderness paradise that inspired Canada's famous Group of Seven landscape artists.
