Itinerary
Day 1 - Skagway
Meet your guide in Whitehorse early this morning and drive to the famous gold rush port of Skagway, Alaska. After some browsing and shopping on the Skagway boardwalk, enjoy an early lunch before boarding the famous White Pass train. Travel to the border crossing of Fraser via the spectacular alpine of the White Pass Mountain area, scene of one of the greatest gold rushes in the history of the world. Our guide will be waiting in Fraser to drive you to the wilderness Homestead where you can settle into your cozy log cabin. Spend the afternoon reviewing the maps for our upcoming heli-hiking trip and packing for this adventure. After dinner soak in the outdoor hot tub, partake in a dogsledding demonstration or take a leisurely stroll on the many local trails.

Day 2 - Ibex Valley
After an early breakfast, transfer to the helicopter base in Whitehorse for a dramatic flight into the Ibex Valley. Touch down at our yurt base-camp to drop off supplies before carrying on to the summit of Mt. Ingram for your day of hiking. On the ridge you may be fortunate enough to spot the resident herd of Dall Sheep and their lambs grazing on the rocky outcrops. Depending on the time of year, alpine wildflowers may be in abundance or later in the season, berries may be ripening. Throughout the day, slowly make your way back to the valley floor, stopping for a gourmet picnic along the way. Accommodation and dinner tonight will be at your base-camp: a series of yurts modeled after the traditional Mongolian design, and outfitted with modern creature comforts. (sleeping yurts have twin beds, main yurt has dining table, lounge area and kitchen).
Overnight: Yurt Basecamp Meals: BLD
Day 3 - Mount Ingram
Today hike south down the Ibex valley floor. Here you will follow the game trail of the local wolf pack, exploring the beaver dams and the pristine wilderness of this beautiful valley. Learn about the flora and fauna of the area and discover artifacts left by a trapper who worked the valley over 40 years ago. This trail has very little elevation gain so it is an ideal hike the day after our descent from the peak. During the late afternoon, the sauna and shower will be ready back at camp for a well-deserved break after your day of hiking. Fishing gear will be available if you wish to try your hand at catching Arctic Grayling in the rapids of the beautiful Ibex River. Spend the evening sharing your days highlights over a delicious meal cooked on the wood stove, served around the fire under the midnight sun.
Overnight: Yurt Basecamp Meals: BLD
Day 4 - Scout Lake
After a hearty breakfast, hike north up the valley towards the trailhead where the 4WD vehicle will be waiting to transfer you home. The hike will take between 3 and 4 hours. This afternoon pack your paddling gear and reviewing your strokes on Scout Lake. Tonight return to the Homestead where a delicious dinner and the hot tub awaits!
Overnight: The Homestead Meals: BLD
Day 5 - Takhini River
Taking a break from hiking today, load up your canoe and head west towards the Upper Takhini River, about 45 minutes from home. The river is crystal clear and moves at a speed that is easily mastered by novice paddlers as it winds its way through the mountains. The option to create a catamaran out of two canoes is available for those who are wary of their paddling ability. This creates a very stable craft that the guides can steer while guests enjoy the ride. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic Class Two rapid. In the late afternoon drive back to the Homestead for the evening.
Overnight: The Homestead Meals: BLD
Day 6 - Coal Lake
Today head back to the hills for your 4WD adventure. Drive west past Whitehorse, climbing into the Alpine and into the Coal Lake area. Here you can hike the spectacular trails, take pictures and have the opportunity to see an amazing variety of wildlife. Your guides will bring a high powered spotting scope to watch the resident caribou foraging on the hills. Fishing gear is available if you wish to try your hand at catching Lake Trout. In the evening, return to the Homestead for a final night feast of local cuisine, wine and stories around the fire.
Overnight: The Homestead Meals: BLD
Day 7 - Whitehorse
After breakfast, set out on your own pedal power to cycle the Lower Ibex Valley by mountain bike. This is a 33km loop trail that is rated as a moderate ride with 700 feet of elevation gain overall. Take in the magnificent scenery and enjoy a panoramic lunch beside Kokanee Lake. In the afternoon, finish your ride and meet the van for your transfer back to the Homestead. After a light snack and changing back into ‘town’ clothes, drive into Whitehorse to your hotel.
