Aikens Lake Wilderness Lodge, Manitoba, Canada Fishing Vacations and Luxury Travel Packages
Welcome to a spectacular wilderness setting that has not changed for 10,000 years! Aikens Lake Wilderness Lodge sits amongst a beautiful birch stand along a sandy beach on the northeast shore of Aikens Lake since 1948. Located near the inlet to the Gammon River in the Atikaki Wilderness Provincial Park in Manitoba, Canada, world class trophy fishing is a cast away. Aikens Lake ranks among the top walleye destinations in North America. Our 4,000 Sq Ft lodge houses the professional kitchen, spacious dining room with woodstove lounge and features panoramic views of the lake. Also attached is the air conditioned Clubroom and tavern (named Big Molly's Bar) where fun and celebrations are isolated from the guest cabins. This great meeting place reunites our guests and our staff on a nightly basis. All packages at the lodge include air transportation from Winnipeg Manitoba, return chartered through Bluewater Aviation. All meals are provided, with breakfast and dinner served in the lodge dining room and with a traditional shorelunch cooked on the lake with all the fixings. All you have to do is provide the fish! Aikens Lake Wilderness Lodge Accomodations Aikens Lake has a history of incredible log construction. When we bought the lodge in 1988, the modern Master Angler's Row units had just been finished. We have continually upgraded our accomodations over the years, starting with our Park Place cabins. We then used our resources to build a luxurious outpost named the Great Gray Owl. Our newest additions, the Boardwalk Chalets, are the ultimate in log construction! Look inside to see all of our choices in accommodation! The new Sunset Chalets
Former Vice President Dan Quayle helped us open the doors to the new Sunset Chalets. He cut the ribbon in a grand opening ceremony in August 2006. As you come up the ramp on the side of the building, you will first walk into the screened-in patio. This awesome room offers a gorgeous view of the beach and of the lake. It is easy to imagine yourself relaxing here on a calm warm summer evening, with the loons calling as the sun begins to set! The brand new Sunset Chalets feature modern design for maximum comfort and relaxation. Amidst the bliss of nature you will also have a wireless Internet connection, superb climate control and other conveniences. Next, you enter into a large common room. What will strike you most is the high vaulted ceiling, with etched octagon windows on the lake side wall. This main room features a wood-burning fireplace, wet bar, card table, large picture windows overlooking the lake, and comfortable couch and rocker. The whole room, as well as the rest of the chalet, is finished in beautiful pine. On the north side of the room, there are large French doors that open up to the back of the cabin. Here you will find two bedrooms; each has two single beds with option to convert to a king. There is also a large private bathroom, and a separate shower room. The shower is very large and the hot water is unending… a truly great place to let the world's worries wash off your shoulders! Sunset Chalet cabins are spacious and comfortable, while the large private bathrooms and shower rooms help you relax. The Sunset Chalets are climate controlled with separate two-zone heat pump/air conditioning units. This means that each bedroom has its own thermostat and can be set to whatever temperature you desire… hot or cold! The Sunsets also have hard-wired and/or wireless internet access. Use your laptop to surf the net, and ask at the office for a SIP phone for your private use. This service is included in the Sunset package! The two Sunset Chalets are a masterpiece of construction. Each tradesman was sure to leave a couple of their own personal "signatures" in the cabin, and the result is one of the most unique and first-class accommodations in our industry! The Boardwalk cabins are huge. They each have a living room, 2 bedrooms, a shower room, a washroom, and a screened-in porch! Here you can see them from different angles. Luxury: Our amazing new log cabins are appropriately called the "Boardwalk" cabins. They are a great complement for our already successful “Park Place” cabins! For pictures and explanations of the construction, please visit the "Boardwalk History" page. Spacious rooms: The first thing people notice about our new cabins is the sheer size of them. They are just less than 1,000 square feet each! They sleep from 4 to 6 people very comfortably. Inside, they feature two bedrooms, separate washroom and shower rooms, spacious living room, and a screened-in deck with a beautiful view of the lake. The sleeping arrangement is very unique. Each bedroom has the option for sleeping arrangements - either three single beds... or a single bed and a king-size bed. Couples no longer have to cuddle up on a single bed, although it is a good way to keep warm! Air Conditioning: One of the best features that some of our guests will really appreciate is that this cabin has AIR CONDITIONING! We have been able to add this rare luxury in a remote fishing camp by utilizing some brand new technology that is feasible for our power system! Easily control the temperature in the cabin so that you may relax comfortably, regardless of outside conditions! Internet Access: The two Boardwalk Chalets are equipped with hook-ups for laptops that enable high-speed access to the world-wide-web. That means you can keep up to date with stock quotes, market news, e-mails for business, or best of all… E-mailing a jealous friend a picture of yourself with a huge Master Angler fish!!! Sculptures: All the finishing touches have been added to ensure your complete enjoyment and sense of luxury. We have even sculpted some beautiful eagles into some of the log ends that are inside the structures! Impressive: We are very proud of our new cabins! They have really impressed our clients who have been able to witness the transformation of raw materials into a virtual masterpiece! The fruits of labor are quite obvious now that this ambitious project is finished. I am sure that you will be very impressed by the new model for fishing luxury. Beautiful Log Cabins: The Majestic Moose has two sets of built-in bunks (capacity of 4 people) while the Woodland Caribou has three sets of built-in bunks (capacity of 6 people). These beds have drawers underneath and easy stair access to the top bunk. Both cabins boast a magnificent view of the lake, spacious washroom and shower facilities, bar fridge, ceiling fan and cozy, electric fireplace to take out the chill if nights are cool. Screened-in Porch: The Park Place cabins are located just above the beach and provide a spectacular view of the lake and its western shoreline. Aikens is known for its incredible sunsets, and Park Place sits on one of the the best locations at Aikens for viewing them! Constantly striving to improve your experience at Aikens, we thought we should make this view a little more comfortable! In 2004, we added a large attached screened-in porch in front of the cabins! We received many great comments from our guests who used it that first year, and we are thrilled to have hit a homerun with this project! There is a huge 700 square-foot deck that fronts the whole structure. This deck is a wonderful place to relax after a day on the lake. Enjoy a drink while the cool breeze from the lake blows through your hair. You can share your experiences on the lake with others from your party or you can turn it into a social event and meet your neighbours! There are 16 patio chairs and numerous tables on the porch. Splendid Isolation: Great Gray Owl's splendid isolation offers the ideal team building environment for business meetings, incentive trips and professional seminars. Located miles from the main camp, you can be totally on your own. Have campfires at night without worrying about boat traffic or visitors (other than animals). The only sounds you will hear are Mother Nature's! Ecological: Its ecological construction, electrical and sewage services make it the ideal home for groups in search of unique wildlife viewing and nature photography opportunities. It is powered by sunlight and batteries, houses its own self-composting toilets, and can be heated by woodstove! Great Beach: Great Gray Owl's exceptional setting on a beautiful soft sand beach makes it a cozy and safe retreat for multi-generation family vacations where everyone from infants to grandparents can enjoy nature to the fullest! The beach extends for several hundred yards along the shore, and stretches into the water to depths of over 10 feet! You never have to worry about muddy bottoms, weeds, or other creepy things when you take a swim on this beach! Come Visit the Main Lodge and Clubroom: As a Great Gray Owl guest, you are always welcome at Aikens Lake Wilderness Lodge (less than 20 minutes away by boat) where you can enjoy meals in the dining room or relax in the Master Angler's Clubroom. It has a fully licensed bar with dual draught kegs, a souvenir shop, a pool table, dart board, card tables and a shuffleboard game. While at the lodge, you can also visit the Bait and Tackle Shop for bait, tackle, pop, beer, snacks, tobacco and complimentary ice (although your hosts will keep you well stocked in all of the above at your request).

Platinum Upgrade Boats (30hp): The “No-Frills Platinum Package” is a very popular addition to your “Aikens Experience”. As part of this upgrade package, you will have to opportunity to use our previous guide boats for your unguided day or evening fishing. As a lodge, we used these wonderful aluminum boats for our guides up until 2006, the year we purchased of our current Lund fleet. Back in 2000, after consultation with our guides about what they would like and need in a boat, we ordered 6 custom-built boats. They have everything the Alumarines have, but in addition there is a casting deck and pedestal seat in the front, along with a mounted depth finder and wave wackers. However, the thing that most people will love is that each boat has a 30 hp Yamaha engine on the back. This cuts your travel time and allows you more time with your lure in the water in front of the incredible schools of fish at Aikens Lake!

Get ready for the latest in "remote relaxation"! The new Sunset Chalets at Aikens are a masterpiece… plain and simple! We had the honor of having VP Dan Quayle at Aikens to officially cut the ribbon on the Sunset Chalets in August 2006. These two large chalets incorporate a spacious design (nearly 1,000 sq. ft). They sleep two to four people each, so they are perfect for couples, for families, or for groups of 4 - 8 people! The Sunset Chalets are located between the Boardwalk Chalets and Park Place… along the top of the hill overlooking the beach and the lake, giving you a front row seat for those legendary Aikens sunsets! Here is a little taste of what you can expect as you enter these luxurious accommodations! 
Ambitious Log Cabin Design: In September 2000, we at Aikens Lake started an ambitious project. Taking a page from the majestic "Great Gray Owl" that we built on the opposite side of the lake, we started to rebuild the original "Wilderness Trail" cabins with the same innovative design and incredible log cabin craftsmanship that made GGO such a success. Cabin 1 was the first of the 5 original cabins to be rebuilt. Now we have two of the most amazing cabins that you will ever find at a fly-in lodge!
Park Place is a centrally located, modern log structure. This beautiful unit features two adjoining cabins, aptly named the Majestic Moose and the Woodland Caribou, accommodating up to 10 guests.
Master Angler’s Row features four adjacent fully modern and newly renovated units. Each private unit has its own washroom with shower. Each unit sleeps 4 people (2 sets of built-in bunk beds with drawers underneath and easy staircase for the top bunks). As for heating, you can easily set our thermostat controlled heat to your liking. A card table with 4 chairs is set up in front of a picture window with a gorgeous view of the lake.
Perfect for Groups of 8-12 People
The Lake Cadillac! Luxurious Lund Alaskan Guide Boats (50 & 60hp): During your stay at Aikens, you will have the opportunity and choice to fish with our Pro-Staff guides. Each guide is assigned a 16-ft. Lund Alaskan Guide boat with 50hp engine to fish with two guests every day. Note: We also have 18 foot Lunds with 60hp engines also available to take 3 guests per day (please ask in advance). These luxurious guide boats have an ultra-smooth ride and padded vinyl swivel-seats, and a walk-through floor design (no benches!) The Alaskans feature a power-trimmed 4-stroke engines, 55 lbs. thrust MinnKota trolling motor, LMS 332-C Lowrance depth finders and automatic live wells. They also have “unsung” features that will enhance your experience such as splash guards, Stow-Master nets, reliable Optima batteries, and a safety kit. 
Comfortable Alumarine Boats for the unguided fisherman (15hp): In the evenings (or during the day if you choose to fish unguided), our dockhand will have a 16 ft. Alumarine boat ready for your fishing expedition! These Alumarine boats have a Deep-V hull designed to safely cut through waves. They are equipped with 15hp. four-stroke that are very reliable and much better for the environment! They all have spring-ride swivel seats and casting decks. All boats are furnished with a landing net, paddles, an anchor, and a safety kit. Life jackets and coolers are available free of charge at our bait and tackle shop. Also, if you would like to go out three in a boat our dockhand would be more than happy to add that extra seat for you! |
