Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrive Inuvik
Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to the hotel. Spend the afternoon exploring the small northern city of Inuvik, a culturally unique arctic community. Hear stories and facts about the permafrost beneath Inuvik, the construction of Inuvik and the vast Mackenzie River Delta. Enjoy dinner with the group. The Hotel Mackenzie. Meals D
Day 2 - Delta Cruise To Tuktoyaktuk
Today take a leisurely cruise up the Mackenzie Delta, exploring the WWF's conservation issues here and viewing the fascinating wildlife along the way. Arrive in Tuktouaktuk and explore this community with your guide. Visit local craft galleries and wood carving studios, visit the home of a local resident and if you are brave enough, dip your toe in the Arctic Ocean. Return to Inuvik via a scenic flight south across the tundra. The Hotel Mackenzie. Meals: BL
Day 3 - Herschel Island
After breakfast fly north across the scenic and rugged terrain to Herschel Island. Spend the day discovering the unique arctic wildlife that inhabits the island, and visit an old whaling station and RCMP outpost. The Hotel Mackenzie. Meals: BL
Day 4 - Dawson City
Depart this morning on a flight south across the border to the Yukon and arrive in Dawson City. Spend some time wandering the charming streets of this once-booming Gold Rush town. Stroll along the river and visit the local museums and shops before dinner together at a local restaurant. Bombay Peggy's. Meals: BD
Day 5 - Whitehorse
Depart from Dawson City early on the drive south to Whitehorse. Enjoy the vast mountain valley panoramas along the way and arrive at your wilderness lodge Homestead at approximately 1pm. Relax over lunch before a 1.5 hr. dogsledding demonstration and then drive into Whitehorse for a city tour including the Whitehorse Fish Ladder, MacBride Museum and a couple of hours of free time to shop and explore on your own. Accommodation tonight is at the High Country Inn and dinner is at the Klondike Rib and Salmon Grill. This evening will include a 2 hr. private lecture on the major conservation issues facing the Yukon Territory by a local conservation personality. High Country Inn. Meals: BLD
Day 6 - Kluane National Park
Arrive at the Sheep Mountain warden station and set out with your guides on a 4-5 hour hike with an hour-long break to enjoy a gourmet picnic in this stunning wilderness. Return in time to freshen up and dig in to a local feast for dinner at the famous Raven Inn and Restaurant, a four-star property right in Haines Junction. This evening walk across to the Kluane National Park Visitor centre for an interpretive session discussing issues for the Park and the largest non-polar icefields in the world. Day 7 - Tatshenshini River, Whitehorse
Breakfast is early this morning before a scenic drive to the staging area for our day-long rafting trip down the Upper Tatshenshini, a class 3+ river in a beautiful valley. Enjoy lunch in a picturesque spot along the stunning banks of the river. We are off the river at approximately 5:30 pm. We enjoy a snack while driving back to Whitehorse where we book into the High Country Inn and have a late dinner and final celebration at Giorgio's Cuccina Restaurant. High Country Inn. Meals: BLD
Day 8 - Departures
After breakfast, Transfer this morning to the airport in Whitehorse for your flights home. Meals: B.
