Guest Tents

Under Canopy of the Rainforest

Outpost deluxe guest tents, like the lounge and spa tents, are roomy, great white canvas prospector-style quarters built on discreetly-situated raised wooden platforms, connected by cedar boardwalks. All, under canopy of the rainforest and along the water's edge.

Suite Tents

Nine family suite tents offer a slightly roomier but no less intimate Outpost experience. Family suite tents offer the same queen bed comfort as the deluxe guest tents, but are furnished with a convertible chesterfield (with premium queen mattress), and a larger lounge area with a small games table. Five family suite tents sit perched on a hillside overlooking the Bedwell estuary. Four more rest up-stream, at the end of an undulating ribbon of cedar boardwalk.

Lounge Tents

No true safari, eco or otherwise, would be complete without at least one tent assigned to the pursuit of sensory pleasures like reading, games, lounging and select barrel-aged spirits.

The Outpost has two such lounges - a games tent, and a library tent. The former, a plush turn-of-the-century Gentlemen's-Club-like collection of dark polished woods, opulent fabrics and burnished leather, where guests lose themselves in the lost arts of conversation and low-tech competition.

Breakfast
A typical Outpost breakfast is anything but.

Long before the camp comes to life, pastry chefs and breakfast cooks prepare a banquet of fresh sweet and savoury favourites like wild blueberry and cornmeal griddle cakes, salalberry and rosemary scones, and pacific smoked salmon eggs benedict with peamale Canadian bacon.

Housemade muesli, honeyed yogurt, fresh-squeezed juices, and luscious fruit salads are self-serve breakfast staples. Grill items are made fresh to order.

Lunch

What's on for lunch depends on what's on the go.

If alder-smoked grilled salmon over wild greens, Island lager-crusted halibut and shoestring chips, or smoked Mosquito Bay oyster and thyme chowder sound like lunch, then pull up a chair.

Specialty Diets

Specific dietary requirements are easily accommodated by an Outpost kitchen staff used to special requests. Because all meals are made fresh to order, slight adjustments or omissions are easy to make.

Grill and Deli

Chef loves his new "choose-your-own protein" deli-style counter in the cookhouse.

A new mid-day meal alternative is the Outpost grill menu where guests choose from an ever-changing menu of main ingredients like maple and balsamic marinated salmon brochettes, or four peppercorn-crusted tenderloin medallions; then pair their grill choices with side dishes like fire-roasted baby corn and sea asparagus soup, or lobster mushroom and thyme salad.

Spa Cuisine

While the Outpost is not a destination spa, its gorgeous Healing Grounds compound and broad range of wilderness and fresh-air adventures attracts spa-goers from all over the world -- and with them, an expectation of spa inspired cuisine.

Because Chef May's modern natural cuisine is by nature, very fresh and whole-food-oriented, and light on dairy and saturated fats, it is a pleasure for him and his staff to modify menus to suit vegetarian, vegan, fruitarian, low-carb, high-carb, and high-protein diets.

Weddings

There is something in the air at Clayoquot Wilderness Resort - something that makes love grow wild.

Here, engagements, weddings, anniversaries and romantic re-kindlings take on a spiritual quality found nowhere else in the world.

The resort lends itself to intimate small and medium size weddings with two to 50 guests. Four massage and treatment tents, three wood-fired cedar hot tubs, a wood-fired cedar sauna, outdoor showers, seawater baths and wrap-around sun decks artfully compose a rest and relation destination of intimate proportions.
