West Coast Wilderness Lodge Resort is the undiscovered jewel on the Sunshine Coast in Canada. Located on the northern tip of the Sunshine Coast, minutes from the city centers of Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle the Lodge presents upscale accommodations and dining in a laid-back wilderness location. Set amongst majestic cedars and firs, you can experience crisp salt air and breathtaking views of the Pacific Coast while dining at Inlets Restaurant.

The Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada is renowned for destinations like Princess Louisa Inlet and the Skookumchuck Rapids. Both are easily accessible from the Lodge. Close by is the coastal village of Egmont, a small village dating back to early European settlement, and an older First Nations history.

The resort currently consists of only 20 rooms and suites which are able to accommodate individuals, couples, families and groups of up to 50, creating an atmosphere of comfort and intimacy. These attributes make the lodge a destination for hosting meetings, retreats and weddings. There are ten spacious suites each featuring a king-size bed with lovely down duvets, window-side seating area, tiled ensuites and private balcony. There are ten standard well appointed rooms that have queen or king bed and private balconies.

We offer getaway packages that can include kayaking, hiking and canoeing tours these are just a few of the activities offered. Wildlife tours and marine excursions, to legendary destinations, such as the Princess Louisa Inlet Tour and Skookumchuck Rapids take you to locations where the only sounds you hear come from the natural world that surrounds you. For the more adventurous fly into a mountain lake for a canoe trip, or take a helicopter to a mountain top and hike in the alpine.

Whether you are a single traveler or organizing a corporate retreat we offer adventure and find dinning. To reach the lodge you can travel by various different means, by car and ferry from Vancouver (3 hours), and flying from Vancouver (40 mins), Whistler (40 mins) and Seattle (1.5 hours), this makes for a great getaway from Vancouver.

Westcoast Wilderness Lodge Accommodations

All guest rooms and suites were fully renovated in 2007 with expanded room size, new ensuites and private balconies. Our rooms come with irons and hair dryers. All accommodation types are designated non-smoking.

Westcoast Wilderness Lodge Dining

Executive chef Christopher Donnahee hails from bustling Vancouver. His years of dedicated training and unique skills have seen him excel and garner accolades at Vancouver's renowned Joe Fortes Seafood and Chop House. He has also been privy to mastering the culinary excellence of The Salmon House on the Hill in West Vancouver's prestigious British Properties, and Havana, on East Vancouver's trendy Commercial Drive.

As well as attaining his Chef's Red Seal, Chris is completing the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition's Registered Holistic Nutritionist program. Chris' goal for Inlets is to unify the highest quality local and seasonal ingredients with superior culinary techniques for enhanced flavour, texture and nutrition. With all of this presented in a modern, unique and artistic style that is sure to impress.

Along with the backing of Inlets' talented kitchen brigade, Chris looks forward to making your epicurean experience at the Lodge uniquely memorable.

Chris and his young family fell in love with the relaxed atmosphere and great views of sunshine Coast and have decided to make the coast their home.

Tapas menu - designed to offer guests a wider dining experience and will be served on the decks and lounges that surround the lodge.

Local lakes
The area surrounding the lodge has several amazing lakes. Nearby Waugh Lake is a popular place for locals to enjoy the summer fun. Next closest is North Lake, then Klein Lake, a mountain lake great for fishing. Finally, Ruby Lake a crystal clear lake fed by thermal vents. These are just some of the lakes found near the lodge. More lakes will be found if you venture further away. Not only can lake water temperature reach 82F, but some of Canada's natural icons, notably the beaver and the loon, make these lakes their home

Mountain Biking
The area surrounding the lodge is great for easy riders, either cruise the Skookumchuck Trail to the Skookumchuck Rapids or bike the back roads and explore mountain lakes. If you are looking for a more challenging mountain bike experience bike the Klein Lake - Ruby Lake Traverse or head down to Sechelt, only 50 minutes away.

Situated on the cliffs overlooking Sechelt Inlet, West Coast Wilderness Lodge offers a magical setting for your special day. The lodge is very well suited to weddings of all sizes. Our proximity to Vancouver, accommodation layout, deck and dining room facilities and opportunities for activities make us unique for destination weddings.

The enormous tidal movements in the area pours over 2 billion liters of water though the Skookumchuck rapids each day making these dive sites both extraordinary and challenging. The diversity of these dive sites with their outstanding visibility and marine life make the Sunshine Coast an underwater paradise.

West Coast Wilderness Lodge is the perfect diving destination being situated amongst some of the best dive sites on the Sunshine Coast.

Location
The winter months on the Sunshine Coast provides the most exciting dive opportunities. Less rain on the coast brings less sediment runoff compared to that of Vancouver and Seattle.

There are several options for getting to the lodge. Driving is about 3 1/2hours from Vancouver including the ferry from Horseshoe Bay. Float plane from both Vancouver and Seattle is around 45 minutes to 1 hour direct to the lodge. Or come by boat to our dock.

West Coast Wilderness Lodge is a water front facility, located on the shore of Sechelt Inlet on the Sunshine Coast. The Lodge is ideally located for a great diving adventure.

Dive Sites
The HMCS CHAUDIERE, sunk in 1994 off Kunechin Point at the mouth of Salmon Inlet for diving purposes, sits on its side in deep water 20-40m (60-130ft). Descent lines lead to the 188m (620ft) hull of the ship. This World War II sub tracker is a perfect dive for both recreational and technical divers alike.

SKOOKUMCHUCK NARROWS, the world's fastest salt water rapids, located at the entrance to Sechelt Inlet was rated by well known diving author Betty Pratt-Johnson as the best dive in BC and is well worth being called the "highlight of ones diving career".

TUWANEK MARINE PARK "The Aquarium", feels like you are diving/snorkeling in the tropical waters although, the water temperature will change that notion!
