Showcasing Aruba's Eco Efforts, Green Vacation Opportunities and Opportunities for Cultural Enrichment
Aruba's Green Activities
At Bucati Beach Resort, weekly, an all Aruba cultural feast occurs where diners are entertained and engaged with folklore and tales of the island. Advocacy for sustainable tourism abounds here. Programs like Turtugaruba, which protect sea turtles nests and hatchlings, as well as beach clean up programs abound here. In addition solar heated water, substantial energy saving strategies and a strict recycling program help maintain Aruba’s natural glory.

Music and Aruban Culture
Culture, celebrated through music is of the essence in Aruba. Aruban celebrations are vibrant annual events including month-long Carnival. Oranjestad is the historical Dutch capital city where the tall multicolored houses combine traditional Dutch tiles with carved wooden doors, airy open galleries and sloping Aruban-style roofs. Fresh fish and produce are sold here directly from the boats every morning. Oranjestad's marketplace is also ideal destination in which to find Aruban art and local handicrafts.
During the Feast of Saint John, the chanting rhythms of “Dera Gai” are highlights of the festival. Music plays a central role in all of Aruba's major holidays as well as its more informal celebrations. Every evening music can be heard drifting down from terrace bars, flooding through nightclub doorways and intimate pubs, drawing revelers to animated social interaction. Latin rhythms of salsa and merengue, blended with American top forty and European house music offer an extensive cornucopia of musical genres in which to experience Aruba's exuberant and cosmopolitan attitudes.
Local musicians, benefiting from the island’s rich musical atmosphere, as well as exposure to international trends, may provide a new take on conventional rhythms. Their creativity and musical knowledge can be appreciated at live performances, regularly scheduled at the local theater of Cas di Cultura, in nightclubs or in Aruba's finest hotels, dinner theatres and restaurants.
