Bimini is actually two separate islands, North and South Bimini, separated by a shallow, narrow channel. North Bimini, the central location of the population and activities, consists of a strip of land 7 miles long and no wider than 700 yards. South Bimini, has a small airstrip and only two hotels, offering easy access via water to the North Bimini happenings.

Bimini is the closest Bahama Island to the United States, sitting only 48 miles east of Miami, its easy way of life is reminiscent of the past. Bimini is a little remote, but very popular with the fishermen..

Rum runners and ship wreckers plundered the ships that ran aground on Biminis reefs. Today, the wrecks of Spanish galleons make for fascinating dive sites along with exotic fish and a well know, but mysterious stone formation that some say is the lost continent of Atlantis.

Alice Town is the commercial centre of Bimini, consisting of one quiet road called the King's Highway. It is lined with a few small stores, half dozen local restaurants and an equal number of lazy bars. During Biminis famous fishing tournaments the street can get a little bit crazy, but it's still safe.

Ernest Hemingway's Islands In The Stream made Bimini famous. During  the fishing tournaments the whole island comes alive with the talk of angling. Fishing in Bimini can't be beaten, with the size and variety of the catch.   Tuna, Sailfish, wahoo, and over 50 world records have been set in these waters.
