Long Bay is located on the tropical paradise of Tortola, the largest of the British Virgin Islands.  The north shore of the island is draped with a dozen of the Caribbean's most striking beaches and commanding hilltop views. The island's south shore is bustling with historic attractions and water sports.
The island is easily reached via daily flights from the US, Europe, South America, and St. Thomas. There is also ferry service from St. Thomas. The average temperature is 79°F, and the official currency is the US dollar.
Long Bay's Conference Centre sits next to the pool, offering the largest and most complete facilities in the BVI.

Beachfront Cabanas

Cabanas appeal to the Robinson Crusoe instinct. There are just ten units, built on stilts and spread among the palms at the water’s edge. These cabanas have been completely remodeled, and offer barefoot seclusion and romance with the comforts of quiet air conditioning, ceiling fans, cable TV and VCR’s. Units feature special touches like marble vanities and your own private hammock under a spacious full length deck overlooking the ocean.

Beachfront Deluxe

Grand beachfront living just yards from the surf and our powdery white sand beach. The accommodations consist of a spacious air conditioned bedroom with a four poster king or two queen size beds, opening onto a spectacular covered sitting area on a 120-square-foot deck or balcony. Views extend across the blue Caribbean sea to the neighboring islands. In addition to a wet bar, the units have a separate shower room, marble vanity and dressing room area, bathroom, walk-in closet and cable TV.

Hillside Oceanview

Set on the hillside, these rooms have either king or queen size beds and are tastefully decorated with cable TV and VCR's and offer refined luxuries such as marble vanities. The balconies or decks have fabulous view of the ocean.

Hillside Oceanview Deluxe

Large and spacious with a choice of king-size or twin beds, these tastefully furnished rooms are equipped with cable TV and VCR's and offer refined luxuries such as marble vanities. Rooms have either large covered private deck or balcony and connecting rooms are available for families.

Jacuzzi Junior Suite

Situated on the hillside among lush tropical vegetation with glorious ocean views. These spacious split-level rooms are very private and particularly popular with couples and honeymooners. All have spacious balconies, lounge area with TV and video, and steps leading up to the bedroom level. Featuring king size beds and a full size Jacuzzi and shower, these are perfect for a romantic hideaway.

Family Villas

Long Bay also offers a variety of two and three bedroom, luxurious full-service homes, and apartments located on and around the resort. Each property is unique, but all have views of the ocean and many have pools. Guests have access to all resort facilities, and meal plans are available. These Villas are ideal for families, group vacations or a private getaway

Estate Homes

For the ultimate in luxury, Long Bay also has some of the Caribbean's most exceptional private estate villa rentals.  Each of these three or four bedrooms villas have private pools and commanding view of Long Bay and beyond.
Guests have access to all resort facilities, and meal plans are available. These Villas are ideal for families, group vacations or a private getaway.

Continental and Caribbean gourmet fare, acclaimed as the finest cuisine in the BVI, is offered in an elegant setting with a backdrop of floodlit tropical gardens. Dinner is served from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Our Chef prepares a new menu daily each offering a new experience, based on availability and seasonality of items.

Palm Terrace is known for fresh fish, delicious vegetarian dishes, and fine desserts. The wine list is extensive, featuring the finest North American and European wines. Reservations are recommended.

The Oldest "New" Restaurant in Tortola
Why not treat yourself to lunch or dinner a t the oldest 'new" restaurant in Tortola?  '1748' at Long Bay is set in a converted 18th century sugar mill on the island's finest beach, it's tables on the upper and lower decks or right beneath the seagrape trees on the sands.

Enjoy delicious grills, beach barbecues or fresh-from-the-reef seafood, every meal, enhanced by attentive service and the sound of the surf.

Beach Bar
The Beach Bar is open throughout the day and evening. Try an Island Fizz with breakfast, a Long Bay Cooler with lunch, or a Papaya Daiquiri with dinner. Happy hour is held every evening from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

The Pelican Pool Bar
The Pelican Pool Bar serves tropical refreshments and tasty snacks to swim up customers and poolside loungers.

Terrace Bar
A popular spot to unwind over cocktails, service is from 6:30 pm onwards in the bar and on the terrace.

Meal Plan
Long Bay offers a Modified American Plan "MAP."  The plan includes breakfast everyday at the Beach Cafe and dinner at either the Beach Cafe or Garden Restaurant.  Lunch may be substituted for dinner anytime.  Price: $48/day for adults and $30/day for children 12 and under.  The Meal Plan must be taken for seven consecutive days, or for the entire stay if you are staying less than seven days.

The Elegant Pelican
Located next to reception, the Elegant Pelican is a unique island shopping experience. Enter a typical Caribbean home through its courtyard and delve into the hidden treasures of luxury resort wear and gifts. The shop also stocks basic vacation necessities, as well as reading material and video rentals.

The Pelicatessen
The Pelicatessen is your resort source for tasty snacks and gourmet specialties, plus a full range of grocery items for villa guests. Provisions include fresh breads, milk, vegetables, meat and other household goods. Daily delivery direct to your villa is also available.

The Sporting Pelican
The Sporting Pelican offers a range of colorful tropical and sports clothing, including t-shirts, hats, bags and beachwear. Boogie boards, snorkeling equipment and other water sport gear are available for rental.

Tennis
Long Bay offers a full pro shop and two lighted artificial grass courts. There is a nominal charge for court time.

Water sports
Long Bay's mile-long beach is white, powdery, and the perfect spot for water sports. In the summer, the beach provides excellent snorkeling; in the winter, bodysurfing is a popular activity. Snorkeling equipment and boogie boards are available for rental at our shop, The Sporting Pelican. The resort also features a fresh water pool.

The Spa & Fitness Center at Long Bay offers a tempting variety of treatments designed to rejuvenate the mind and body.  All treatments can be booked locally.


Local Activities
Scuba & Skin Diving
Daily one and two tank dives are made at some of the most beautiful locations in the Caribbean, including the Wreck of the Rhone; rated as some of the best diving in the islands, the wreck provides a stunning backdrop for underwater photography. Beginner PADI certification courses also offered.

Boating and Sailing
The BVI's sheltered waters and reliable trade winds offer it all. Windsurfers and Sunfishes are available for hire at Cane Garden Bay and Nanny Cay. Or explore the Baths on Virgin Gorda or an uninhabited tropical island on a sail and snorkel tour.

Golf
Mahogany Run is about an hour away by ferry. This spectacular par 72 course was designed by Tom Fazio, and its 18 holes offer golfers a real challenge--including one drive that spans an Atlantic gorge.

Island Hopping
A variety of tours across Tortola and the nearby islands are available. Excursions include St. Thomas USVI guided shopping and walking day trip; Tortola nature and history guided tour; St. John's USVI National Parks Tour; and an Eco-Anegada tour that includes the nesting area of pink flamingos.

Sport Fishing
Many of the world's sport fishing records have been set in Virgin Island waters. Sailfish, tuna, bonita, wahoo, and marlin are abundant. Boats are available for rental by the full or half day.

Horseback Riding
Enjoy breathtaking vistas as you ride through the cool of Mt. Sage National Park or the shores of Cane Garden Bay. Horses are available by the hour from Shadow's Stables.

Tortola Island Tours
The best way to get to know Tortola. Guided tours include a pub crawl and nightclub dancing night; an island nature and history tour; a downtown shopping excursion; and a beach tour.

Long Bay is a resort where the pace of daytime entertainment is more along the lines of watching the pelicans dive for fish off the beach, or of drifting laconically through the pool to our swim-up bar. It is a perfect place to begin your married life.
We can not offer you glass-bubbled Cinderella carriages or marching bands with fanfares of trumpeters, this is not our style. We do offer you is a very special environment to make your marriage vows and a very special place for you to celebrate afterwards.

Tell us what you want and we will make it happen for you, and if you are not sure (this may well be your first trip to our beautiful resort), then let us offer some suggestions.
Delightful places to get married abound at Long Bay. For instance the beach is exquisite for the sand between-your-toe's castaways. For stunning views and no sand between your toes, we suggest one of the small walkways with steps that lead onto the beach.
Many of our guests prefer a quiet elopement-type wedding, sometimes just the couple, and at other times with family and close friends. Others opt for more elaborate and formal ceremonies. In the past we have flown 70 or more guests in for the event.
To celebrate afterwards, you may choose champagne on the beach whilst the photographer captures the moment followed by a romantic gourmet candle-lit dinner for two in the Garden Restaurant.
For larger occasions we can offer you our beautiful banquet facility next to the Pelican Pool with pre-dinner cocktails on the terrace and your own band to dance away the night as they play your favorite selections.
