General Information

What to expect: Combining Caribbean charm with British tradition, this resort is open only to couples at least 18 years of age. A special feature is the resort’s own private island, reached via dragon boat. Upon check-in, guests receive cold towels and welcome champagne. A resort orientation takes place twice daily.

Amenity highlights: Dining options include the ballroom-style Regency Suite, the intimate Courtyard, and the elaborate Royal Thai, which is located on the resort’s private island. In addition to a secluded beach on the island, the resort fronts a 76-meter (250-yard) private beach. Sundecks and spa tubs surround four outdoor pools. Two pools have swim-up bars. Entertainment includes nightly theme parties, cocktail parties, and a disco. The Red Lane Spa offers treatments for additional surcharges.

Insider tip: Couples can arrange a champagne picnic on the resort's private island which is 50 yards offshore and accessible by the resort's shuttle boat (surcharge required).

Know Before You Go This resort accepts only couples age 18 and older. No singles or triples accepted. Singles, triples, and families are welcome at associated Beaches properties.
A no-tipping policy applies at the resort only. A modest gratuity per piece of luggage is suggested for airport luggage handlers.

All Sandals, Beaches, and Royal Plantation resorts are nonsmoking in any enclosed areas. Examples are bars, restaurants, lobbies, conference facilities, retail facilities, and nightclubs. Smoking is permitted in all open areas and designated rooms.

Upon check-in, guests will be asked to tender a credit card to activate their room folio. All purchases (except those paid for with a credit card) at resort outlets will be signed to the room folio. Cash will not be accepted for incidental charges at any resort outlet. If a credit card is unavailable, a cash deposit must be left at the front desk/concierge in order to activate the room folio. Travelers’ checks will be treated like cash and therefore can only be used at the front desk.

The hotel has a 100% cancellation, no show, and short stay penalty. Because unforeseen circumstances arise, travel insurance is strongly recommended.

Sandals [Beaches] Blue Chip Hurricane Guarantee: Sandals [Beaches] will provide guests with a replacement vacation if a hurricane directly hits the property and the All-Inclusive activities are disrupted. Not only do guests receive a replacement vacation at Sandals [Beaches], they also receive free roundtrip airfare. The replacement vacations are for the same duration of time and room category as the original vacation.

The Beach Grill - Open-air bar and grill, located on the sand. Burgers, French fries, and other casual fare. Tropical drinks and other beverages. Open from mid-morning to early evening, and from late evening to 3 AM.

Resort bars are located poolside, on the private island, in an air-conditioned lounge with piano entertainment, and in the disco. The resort also offers two swim-up bars.

Sandals Royal Caribbean Accommodations

Overview - The majority of amenities, activities, and gratuities at this resort are included in the room rate; guests will not be charged extra.
Guestrooms are arrayed in 12 one-, two-, and three-story pastel-colored buildings (no elevators) surrounded by flowering tropical gardens. Views are of the grounds, gardens, pools, or ocean. Colonial plantation-style accommodations include four-poster king beds, air conditioning and ceiling fans, satellite TV with U.S. stations, CD players/clock radios, and direct-dial phones. Some rooms also have balconies or patios. Bathrooms are either tile or marble with shower/tub combinations or showers only.

Some room types include exclusive concierge service and/or butler service, as well as room service, plush bathrobes, and stocked minibars.
 
Exotic Swim-up River Suite - These wonderful suites feature a secluded patio surrounded by lush Caribbean vegetation that opens onto the resort's lazy river where lovers can dip their toes into the soothing waterway. Relax on the expanded patio area with lush vegetation, and access to the lazy river just steps away. The patio features an outdoor dining area for the ultimate in relaxation under the warm Caribbean sun. Indoors, the suites feature the ultimate in luxury, with a four-poster mahogany bed. The marvelous bathroom is graced with marble and hand-cut mosaic tile accents, plus a Jacuzzi tub and his and her vanities.

Royal Beachfront Suite - Elegant suites on the first and second floors of the Balmoral Building... a location that reminds our guests as to why they've come to the Caribbean. The suites feature a king bedroom with a marble bath adjacent to the intimate living area. All Royal Suites have either a patio or large balcony.

Royal Honeymoon Luxury Beachfront Concierge Room - Spacious rooms located on the first through third floors of the calm and traditional Kensington Building, with its quiet East Pool area. All rooms have either a patio or balcony.

Royal Grande Luxe Beachfront Room - True beachfront rooms located on the first and second floors of the Balmoral and Sandringham blocks. All with either a balcony or patio.

Royal Grande Luxe Semi-private pool view - Opens January 1st, 2008. Expansive room offering mahogany furnishings, a large bathroom, most with his & hers vanities as well as a whirlpool. All rooms have a large patio or balcony and a view of the secluded south pool. Located on the first and second floor of the Caernarvon block.

Royal Grande Luxe - Large rooms set back from the beach. Located in the Clarence, Buckingham, Glamis and Edinburgh Buildings, all of which are fronted by manicured lawns and gardens. There is a short walk to the beach. All rooms have balconies or patios.

Royal Premium - Most rooms located in the two-story Arundel Building and a few in the Edinburgh Building. All rooms have either a patio or balcony.

Fronting 76 meters (250 yards) of private beach, Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort is a 15-minute drive from central Montego Bay. The resort has its own private offshore island with a secluded beach, outdoor pool and spa tub, and the Royal Thai dinner restaurant. A dragon boat shuttles guests to and from the island. Three pools and four spa tubs are at the main resort.

Guests have the option of casual, intimate, air-conditioned, and open-air dining, as well as British-style, white-glove tea service, and six bars. Entertainment includes theme parties, cocktail parties, a disco, and talent nights. Wireless Internet access (surcharge) is available in the lobby.

Red Lane Spa offers a tropical nail bar and a menu of skin and body treatments (surcharges). Guests are also entitled to use facilities, including restaurants, at all Sandals resorts in Jamaica.

Recreation

The majority of recreational activities detailed below are included in the room rate for this resort.
Arrayed along a private beach, Sandals Royal Caribbean also has its own private offshore island accessible via dragon-boat shuttle. The island features a secluded beach and an outdoor pool and spa tub. Stone-and-concrete piers divide the resort's main beach into scalloped coves, where the water remains calm in most weather conditions.

Canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, small sailboats, scuba diving gear, snorkeling gear, and windsurfers are available for guests. Basketball, croquet, horseshoes, shuffleboard, outdoor chess, volleyball, and tennis can be played. Both land and water aerobics classes are offered.

The resort’s fitness center includes treadmills, stair machines, stationary bikes, elliptical trainers, free weights, and other equipment. Saunas and steam rooms are also available.

Guests receive complimentary greens fees to the 18-hole Sandals Golf & Country Club, but transportation is not provided. The nearest 18-hole championship golf course is Ironshore Golf & Country Club, a two-minute drive away.
