She is your family's Vacation Assistant and will be with you from check-in to check-out. From participating in activities with the family, to keeping your kids entertained while you take advantage of all our adult activities like scuba diving, she removes the hassles and bother from your holiday. When you want to spend time as a family, she will care for your suite - making it clean and tidy - and will stock your refrigerator. Unlike other resorts, this nanny is exclusively yours as part of your all-inclusive package - our staff-guest ratio is 1:1. Located directly on the beach front, Franklyn D. Resort and Spa features 77 spacious, air-conditioned suites housed in eight low-rise buildings of distinct Tuscan-style architecture. One, two and three-bedroom suites are beautifully furnished, and their spaciousness is perfect for families. All suites, which are wheel-chair accessible, are just steps from the Caribbean sea and are complete with living room and dining area, stocked refrigerator and spacious balcony or garden terrace! Your Vacation Nanny  At Franklyn D. Resort, as part of your all-inclusive package, we give our guests the best gift of all - a personal "Vacation Nanny." She is a qualified member of our staff, specifically assigned to only your family and always available to care for your family's every need.
Your Vacation Nanny is highly-trained and is on hand from 9:00 to 4:40 to take the worry out of your holiday. If you need her in the evenings, Warm, attentive and friendly, she respects your privacy and will be there only when needed. Should parents need time alone to relax, or to go shopping, scuba diving or to participate in all the other activities, your Vacation Nanny will care for your children by taking them to the pool or beach, the playground, for a walk, or to any of the many games, crafts and activities offered every day. Vacation Nannies also are happy to bathe and dress your children, as well as make sure they're fed at mealtimes. In addition, they will make sure your fridge is fully stocked with items of your choice before your return to your suite -- which they will always keep neat and tidy. Special occasions are also an opportunity to lean on the nannies. They are delighted to act as your 'vacation assistant' by organizing special events like family reunions, dinner parties, and birthday and anniversary celebrations. Our guests' appreciation for our Vacation Nannies is reflected in the numerous letters of commendation sent by guests each week. Dining We offer a broad array of enticing entrees at mealtime that are complemented by tempting side dishes and an abundance of the best tropical fruits like papaw, mango, pineapple, melons and bananas. Wine and drinks are served with dinner, which becomes a fitting prelude to the evening's entertainment. The Verandah Restaurant On the boardwalk over the ocean or in the open-air dining room, the Verandah Restaurant serves international cuisine in a family atmosphere. Bountiful buffet breakfasts are served every morning. At lunchtime you'll find another buffet feast of salads, hot entrees and scrumptious desserts. At dinnertime you can choose from an international menu featuring French and Jamaican specialties. Don't miss our Beach Buffet by torchlight on Wednesday or our renowned Saturday Jamaican Buffet. The Overproof Restaurant Our newest addition, The Overproof Restaurant specializes in authentic Jamaican cuisine. Open for dinner only 5 evenings per week from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Located on the beach and decorated in true Jamaican red, gold and green, guests can dine on such ethnic delights as escoveitched fish and bammy, oxtail and curried conch. Adults only. The Pier Restaurant Kidz Buffet After an energetic and active day in the sea and sun, children are offered a great spread at the Kidz Buffet. A well-balanced, buffet-style meal is served on tables just the right height for our smaller guests. The menu is specially planned to suit little palates: Specialties include spaghetti and meatballs, macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets, fish fingers, a selection of healthy salads, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, hot dogs and hamburgers. The Kidz Buffet runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily. Fruits, juices, milk, our popular non-alcoholic daiquiris, chocolate milk, softy ice cream and dessert treats are also available. After dinner there is ping pong, pool, air hockey and foosball to keep the kids entertained until the Kiddies Disco opens at 7:30pm. Beach Grill For all-day snacks, the beach grill is open from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily. It features popular specialties like Jamaican beef patties, mouth-watering jerk pork and jerk chicken, simmered in your choice of mild to piquant sauces. The chef also prepares a variety of specialty sandwiches and all-time favorites like pizzas, hamburgers and hot dogs.

SWIMMING-The main pool features a roped-off shallow end for toddlers and small children as well as a separate "slide" pool that's a big hit with our youngest guests. Vacation nannies will keep a close watch on your little ones so you can also relax while the kids safely have fun in one of the pools or at our kid-friendly beach. BIG BLUE- One of the biggest hits with kids is our 100-foot water slide, affectionately known as "Big Blue". For children who can swim, zooming down the twists and turns of the slide and making a big splash in Big Blue's own pool is a rush they'll want over and over. SPORTS- When they've tired of swimming, splashing and sliding, a variety of activities awaits them. They can enjoy soccer or snorkeling lessons, glass-bottom boat rides, kayaks, tennis, basketball, or bicycle rides. YELLOW BIRD KIDS' CLUB- This is the hub of activity for children of different ages. Our popular kiddie's centre is open from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. Our children's program is as varied and enjoyable as the junior guests themselves. Kids have their own playground, arts and crafts center and paddling pool, along with activities like shell hunts on the beach and tie-dye classes. While having fun, children will learn about life on a Caribbean coral reef, enter a talent contest, participate in swimming lessons, make a tie-dye outfit and learn about Jamaica. The Teen Scuba Diving Adventure is one of the most popular activities in our teens programme. In addition, our trained teen coordinators organize many activities specially designed for this age group. Teens and preteens also enjoy our sports facilities: basketball, tennis, pool/beach volleyball, snorkeling -- and lest we forget the tech-minded teen, there are video games and our computer room. There are also reggae dance classes, board games, table tennis and pool tables, organized "rap sessions"... more! Other great expeditions to the Blue Mountains in the east or to Negril in the west can also be arranged. Sports When you are not relaxing on the beach or swimming in our pool, you can take advantage of an array of land and water sports. Both adults and children have fun learning many of our sports like windsurfing snorkeling, sailing, kayaking and tennis. Among our most popular activities is Scuba Diving at our coral reefs. If you're already an experienced or certified Scuba diver, Franklyn D Resort and Spa has all the gear you need. If not, you have the opportunity to become certified by trained, qualified instructors. Included in the vacation package for certified divers is one daily dive, weather permitting. You'll get the chance for an up-close view at some of the Caribbean's most colorful and exotic fish, along with native plant species that populate the quiet depths of our sea. We also offer snorkeling at the coral reefs, along with snorkeling lessons and trips out on our own glass-bottom boat. Other water sports include kayaking, sailing and windsurfing. Our gym is fully-equipped so you have the chance to stay in shape. Use of machines and weights, and aerobic and aquacize classes are all part of the package. The games room is equipped with pool tables and table tennis. We also offer day and night tennis on our lit court. Then there is beach/pool volleyball, basketball, soccer, foosball and cycling. We have just about any sport to suit every member of the family.
Entertainment Entertainment at The Franklyn D. Resort and Spa is nightly and lively. Every night, our resident band will keep you dancing under the stars. From ska to soca to reggae, you will dance your way through the captivating sounds of the Caribbean. Jamaica's talented cabaret singers will entertain you, or you can show off your talent in our Staff and Guest talent show. Bedtime ends up taking a backseat to a fascinating variety of singers, dance troupes, acrobats, limbo, fire-eaters and contortionists. Entertainment includes: Floor shows featuring resident band.
Excursions Tour Description: Take a scenic 30-minute drive to check out the deals in the native craft markets, the local clothing, music, art galleries and duty-free shops for the best in unusual souvenirs and gifts. Fill your senses with the sights, sounds, flavors and aromas of this bustling town. Complimentary shuttle service departs the hotel daily at 2:00 p.m. except Sundays & Jamaican Public holidays. Marine Lab and Puerto Seco Beach Tour Description:This laboratory is an extension of the University of the West Indies, Marine Biology Department. You will learn about marine ecology and the environment, ocean life, fish, flora and fauna of the Caribbean Sea. See experiments to preserve ocean life. Bob Marley's Birthplace and Mausoleum at Nine Mile Cranbrook Flower Forest Tour Description:Under the supervision of our Coordinators we have a big Family Fun Day here. Go bird watching, play croquet, go fishing or wade in the river on this 20-acre landscaped property. Gardening enthusiasts love the wide display of orchids, anthuriums, and tropical flora as they are taken on a guided botanical tour. The more adventurous may enjoy a hike to the riverhead through tropical rainforest. Horseback Riding at Hooves Tour Description: Choose the Heritage Beach Trail or the Bush Doctor Mountain Trail, morning or afternoon. Ride through historic Seville Estate or through the sea. The horses are well trained. Rafting on the Martha Brae River Tour Description: You are piloted by a skilled captain down a lazy, meandering river over 3 miles long. Journey on a 30-foot bamboo raft-a-la-Tom Sawyer and enjoy the tranquility and scenic beauty of the surrounding countryside. The tour starts out with a stop at "Tarzan's Corner" for a dip in the refreshing water. This raft ride is a fun, relaxing experience for the entire family. Green Grotto Tour Description: Wander through a maze of stalactites and stalagmites, passageways and chambers until you reach the deepest cavern and the grotto lake. Centuries ago, these historic caves provided shelter for the Tainos. Later they served as a safe hideout for the Spanish, and then as a storage spot for smugglers who ran arms to Cuba in the 1930s. The caves were more recently used as a rum storehouse. Great for spelunkers!
