Devon House is the realization of the dream of George Stiebel a son of a housekeeper and a Jewish Merchant. Stiebel made his fortune from investments in gold mines in Venezuela. He purchased 99 properties in Jamaica including 53 acres of land from the St. Andrew Parish on which he built Devon House in 1881. |
