What to expect: Set between the Blue Mountains and the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea, the Rose Hall Resort & Country Club caters to couples and families. The resort occupies what was once an 18th century sugar plantation. Many guests enjoy walking to the historic Rose Hall Great House one km (half-mile) away, which was once the home of Annie Palmer, anointed the “White Witch of Rose Hall.” Amenity highlights: The resort is popular with families seeking getaways for active children. A highlight for all ages is the water park, Sugar Mills Falls, which features three terraced pools, lagoons, waterfalls, a lazy river, a water slide, two secluded spa tubs, and a swim-up bar. Adjacent to the main building, a 36.5-meter (120-foot) freeform pool also contains a swim-up bar and a children's section connected by a channel. The beach runs 914 meters (1000 yards). Pool decks and the private beach feature cushioned lounge chairs, umbrellas, and cabanas. Insider tip: In addition to the resort's golf course (surcharges), guests can also play the Ironshore Golf Course located five km (three miles) away.

A gaming lounge contains slot, video-poker, and blackjack machines (surcharges for tokens). The Cricket Club disco offers early-evening entertainment such as karaoke, dance lessons, and bingo, followed by DJ music and dancing until well after midnight. An open-air theatre draws guests with live interactive music and dance shows. A fitness center contains cardio and weight machines as well as free weights. And a kids' club with adjacent sand playground offers supervised activities during the day for children age 4-12.
A health and beauty spa offers massage, body treatments, facials, waxing, and hair and nail care (surcharges for all treatments and services). A business center contains four computers with dial-up Internet access, fax machines, and a photocopy machine (surcharges for services). The resort offers more than 1021 square meters (11,000 square feet) of flexible meeting space and banquet facilities. Five shops adjoining the lobby sell gifts, sundries, jewelry, perfume, leather goods, and personal electronics. The lobby is also the site of a daily art show and a weekly craft market when local artisans bring in handmade straw items, coral jewelry, T-shirts, and handmade clothing.
