There you can make friends with the friendly inhabitants of Placencia along the world's most narrow main street - the Placencia sidewalk. It is so narrow, that only one person can pass is comfortably. If two people meet, one of them has to step down into the sand to let the other pass by. Chabil Mar Villas Resort is the most conveniently located luxury resort in Placencia for those visitors who want to enjoy a short walk or ride on a golf cart, to enjoy the village and its culture.

Be it Tarpon, Bonefish, Snook, the prize Permit or a grand-slam that anglers from around the globe come to Belize in search of, your guide will insure that your day of sport fishing will be second to none. Whether your preference is a fly rod or a spin reel or trolling for your catch of the day, from barracuda to snapper to king mackerel to grouper, the waters directly offshore from Chabil Mar Villas are arguably some the finest fishing grounds in the Caribbean Sea.
SNORKELING/DIVING - Chabil Mar Villas is located within just 20 miles by boat from the second largest barrier reef in the world. Wall dives start at 35ft with drop plunging to close to 300 feet. These dives are up to 100 feet in depth and recommended for advanced divers. Canyon diving is ideal for sighting Nurse Shark and Rays. Some of the canyons begin at a depth of about 20ft and gradually slope to about 80 ft. Shark Hole is a sink hole inside the main reef 38 miles from Placencia. Snorkeling can be done from the dock at Chabil Mar Villas or offshore between the protery and the barrier reef. During the three migration periods of March, April and May each years whale sharks are observed at the Gladden Split Area. These dates change each year though each month usually guarantees ten to fourteen days of very good sightings. It should be noted that only the highly experienced divers should attempt diving for whale shark viewing due to the required deep water depths and ocean diving.
JUNGLE EXPERIENCE - Home of the only Jaguar preserve on the planet, the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary & Jaguar Preserve is home to Victoria Peak. At a height of 3675 feet, Victoria Peak is the highest mountain in Belize. It is a total of 28 km to the summit from the Cockscomb headquarters and the trek is often described as the "hardest hike in Belize." The trek we recommend allows you on a clear day to see the peak. Your day will be filled with exploring the network of hiking trails, wildlife viewing and birding like you read about in the nature magazines.
MAYA ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES - Nim Li Punit is perched high upon a hilltop overlooking the Maya village of Indian Creek in Belize's Toledo district with the silhouette of the Seven Hills defining the distant horizon. The Ancient Maya city affords the adventurer one of the all time best views from any of the known Maya archaeological sites in El Mundo Maya. It was discovered by outside oil company workers in 1976 who informed the Archaeological Commissioner who in turn asked Norman Hammond, then director of the British Museum - Cambridge University Corozal Project to investigate the site. Excavations at Nim Li Punit were active throughout the 1980's. In the Maya Q-ekchi language of the Ketchi people, Nim Li Punit translates into English as "the big hat". The area was so named for the carvings that reflect in part the tribal headdress which was worn by a great Maya leader etched into the longest of the twenty-six stelae discovered on site including the largest in Belize, and one of the largest in the entire Maya world.
Other Maya Archaeological sites which can be reached from Chabil Mar Villas Resort and the Placencia Peninsula for a day visit are Xunantunich in the Cayo District near San Ignacio and Lubaantun also in the Toledo district in Southern Belize.
MONKEY RIVER - You will never forget a trip to Monkey River. The adventure begins dockside from Chabil Mar Villas. From there you and your guide will weave your way through the mangroves where is not uncommon to see an occasional manatee lumbering by. Continuing down the coastline you will reach mouth of the river at the village of Monkey River. From there you will travel upstream for miles. Along the way you may witness exotic bird life, crocodiles and howler monkeys feeding in the shoreline trees of the tropical jungle paradise. After a brief jungle hike in search of the elusive troops of howler monkeys, you and your guide return to the boat, As you float back down river you will in time reach the village of Monkey River. After a walkabout this idyllic Belizean village, it's back onboard you skiff for the return trip back up the coast and through the mangroves to Chabil Mar Villas Resort.
