The Highlands
After the Maya abandoned Petén, the Highlands rejoiced with the arrival of their descendants, who made their home in these mountains and valleys, surrounded by cold climates and fertile lands. The Verapaces Natural Paradise
This area is known as Las Verapaces since the Conquest of America. The biggest and most important habitat of the majestic Quetzal is found in this region, whose feathers adorned the heads of Mayan Kings and Princes. Activities in this region include Adventure sports such as caving and rafting as well as nature watching.
The Caribbean Coast
Its name says it all…Izabal is part of the Caribbean but unique. It was the scenery of Pirates and Galleons during the Conquest of America and is now the home of the Garifuna culture that arrived at its coasts 200 years ago. Activities in this region include watersports, beach going and visiting the Garfunda people.
The Unexplored Territories
This is a great advantage to those that wish to explore an almost virgin culture and tradition. Among its main attractions is Basílica de Esquipulas. Activities in this region include exploring the lesser known areas of Guatemala.
The Capital & Colonial Cities
This region lodges two capital cities of Guatemala; one, a silence witness to our colonial past...Antigua; the other the biggest and most modern metropolis in Central America...Guatemala City. Activities in this region include shopping, visiting the museums and enjoying the more cosmopolitan areas of Guatemala.
The Pacific Coast
More than thirty volcanoes in Guatemala contributed to the forming of volcanic sand beaches in the coasts of the Pacific Ocean.
