Day 1, Sat: USA / San Jose
Begin your holiday with a flight to San Jose, where upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your prestigious resort. Melia Cariari
Day 2, Sun: San Jose / La Paz Waterfalls / Arenal Volcano
A dynamic day takes you to La Paz Waterfall, where we feel the spray of its jewel-green waters, and walk the hummingbird, orchid and butterfly gardens. Arrive at your hotel in view of Arenal Volcano and its explosive nightly show. Later, soak, swim and splash in a natural hot spring pool at Hidalgo Farm. Montana de Fuego (B,L,D)
Day 3, Mon: Arenal Volcano / Monteverde
This morning’s tour focus is on the primary neo-tropical rainforest that have become accessible through an ingeniously elaborate system of bridges and footpaths known as the Arenal Hanging Bridges. We shall get deep into the canopy, a world not usually seen from the ground. Then depart to your next incredible environment, Monteverde, reached by climbing a rough, picturesque road. Day 4, Tue: Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve
Walk through lush green cloud forest, dripping with foliage and protecting an exceptional variety of birds and mammals. Your guide will use a trained eye to help search for monkeys, sloth, tiny insects and frogs, and will explain some fascinating qualities of the 1500 plant species native to this region. The afternoon is at leisure for optional tours and then enjoy a twilight walk at Finca Ecologica for nocturnal activity observations. Fonda Vela (B,L,D)
Day 5, Wed: Monteverde / Manuel Antonio
Descend to the Pacific coast for a drive to the crescent beaches and gently sloped forests of Manuel Antonio, en route enjoying an outrigger canoe experience that feels like we are “rafting on the ocean”. Si Como No (B)
Day 6, Thu: Manuel Antonio National Park
Begin your walking tour of Manuel Antonio Park early, at the quiet time of day. Monkeys play in the rainforest at the edge of its white sand beaches. This is a great forest for catching close views of sloth, coatimundi, agoutis, white-faced and squirrel monkeys. Enjoy a boxed lunch and the rest of the afternoon at the beach, one of the most beautiful in the country. Si Como No (B,L)
Day 7, Fri: Manuel Antonio / San Jose
The morning is yours to relax before driving back to San Jose where the rest of the day is at leisure for shopping and independent activities. Melia Cariari (B)
