This journey explores the contrasting regions of Costa Rica, all of which play host to an astonishing variety of animals, plant life and birds, including the resplendent quetzal. You'll gaze on rich green coffee terraces, winding rivers, and picturesque farmland, traverse highland cloud forests on treetop walkways, and climb smoking volcanoes. Delight in towering waterfalls, vividly-colored hummingbirds and the largest butterfly observatory in the world as you wander the spectacular trails and platforms of the La Paz Waterfalls and Gardens.

Enjoy kayaking on the tropical Arenal River-your guide will identify the many species you encounter. Afterward luxuriate in mineral hot springs cascading through natural pools. Travel up to the region of the 8,500-foot Arenal volcano and the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The reserve protects a myriad of mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles, encompassing eight distinct ecological zones. Take a zip line canopy adventure and walk on hanging bridges above the forest.

Finally, at Manuel Antonio National Park revel in white sand beaches and azure seas set against a background of deep green tropical jungle. Excellent walking trails allow glimpses of rare and abundant species like howler and white-faced monkeys, two-toed sloths, and white-nosed coatis. Exotic marine life abounds around the lagoon, coral reefs and offshore islands, including numerous dolphins.
