Day 01 Guatemala City to Antigua Upon arrival you will be transferred to Antigua. This colonial town is truly wonderful—among the oldest and most beautiful cities in the Americas. Cobblestone streets, colorful street markets, huge ruined convents, art galleries, museums, boutique hotels and street cafes all contribute to its mysterious and alluring charm.
You will stay at the Casa Palopo, with its unbeatable location in the center of Antigua, right on the Union Square, and facing the ruins of Santa Clara and the Church of San Pedro, Casa Palopo Antigua is the ideal base to explore this great Colonial Town, a UNESCO World Heritage town. Meson Panza Verde
Day 02 Antigua Today, your Tour Director and guide is Jane Henwood de Garcia, a local art and Guatemalan cultural expert. She will personally be helping you shop in Antigua as well as giving you a complete guided historical tour of the city. Day 04 Day Excursion to Tikal Early morning departure for the drive back to Guatemala City and the airport for your flight to Flores. From here you meet your local guide Otto Merida, stopping for breakfast at Francis Ford Coppola's La Lancha Resorts. Then you begin your tour of Tikal, the country's most famous Mayan wonder and a wonderful climax to any Guatemala trip. Lunch will be a special picnic inside the park.
The jungle location of this monumental Mayan ceremonial center at Tikal makes it a unique site. Towering pyramids rise above the jungle's green canopy, while down below howler monkeys swing noisily through the branches of ancient trees, colorful parrots squawk and dart, and tree frogs fill in the auditory gaps.
The steep-sided temples rise to heights of over 144 feet, and although the undergrowth around them has been cleared, the dense rainforest canopy is not far away, making passage within the enigmatic site an unforgettable experience. The many ruins include plazas, an acropolis, pyramids, temples and a museum.
In the afternoon, fly back to Flores Airport for your flight back to Guatemala City, where you'll stay at the Quinta Real, and all-suite hotel.
Day 05 Depart Guatemala After breakfast transfer to the airport for your return flight.
