Panama is filled with lush rain forests and volcanoes, indigenous cultures, unspoiled colonial towns, islands, and beaches. Tour Panama City and the Panama Canal. Stay in the lovely San Blas Islands, a region administered by the Kuna, determined to protect their native culture.

Visit La Amistad World Biosphere Reserve, containing an unusually large concentration of ecosystems. Escape to the island eco-lodge of Cala Mia, located in the Pacific Ocean. Travel via dugout canoe to the Indian village of Embera Drua or hike the nature trails of Barro Colorado Island, a reserve where over 380 species of birds, 100 mammals and 1,315 plants have been recorded.

Days 1-2

Arrive Panama City, Panama Canal partial transit, Bristol Hotel.

Day 3

Fly to the San Blas Islands, Kuna Indian visits, Akwadup Lodge.

Day 4

Tour Casco Viejo, then fly to David, Palo Alto Riverside Hotel.

Day 5

Finca Lerida nature tour or whitewater rafting, Palo Alto Riverside Hotel.

Days 6-7

Coffee factory or canopy zip line tour. Cruise to Boca Brava Island, Cala Mia Lodge.

Day 8

Fly to Panama City, Gamboa Rainforest Resort.

Days 9-10

Rainforest cruise, Barro Colorado Island or visit Embera Indians, Gamboa Rainforest Resort.

Day 11

Depart Panama.
