Travel across the Alps from Venice and on into the heart of Europe. Culture and adventure combine in visits to such architecturally dazzling and historically rich cities as Krakow and Vienna, set against the breathtaking landscapes of Eastern Europe.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Venice
Embark early evening on the legendary Express, at Venice Santa Lucia Station and settle into your compartment as the train travels through the wonderful mountain scenery of the Italian Dolomites and Austrian Alps. Later, indulge in an aperitif in the bar before enjoying a splendid dinner in one of the opulent dining cars. Meanwhile, your compartment is converted to a cosy bedroom for your first night on board.

Day 2 - Krakow
Breakfast is served in your compartment as you travel through the ever-changing views of the Slovakian countryside and the Tatras Mountains. A leisurely lunch is served on board as the train crosses into Poland with an afternoon arrival in Krakow, an architectural gem and one of Europe’s most beautiful and vibrant cities.

Day 3 - Krakow
Explore Krakow at leisure. Explore this fascinating city at your own pace. From the unique medieval market square with its Cloth Hall full of artisan’s shops selling exquisite amber jewellery to the Cathedral and fortified Royal Castle standing high on Wawel Hill, Krakow is a delight.

Day 4 - Krakow
Enjoy more time to explore Krakow before rejoining the train this evening for dinner and your night on board.

Day 5 - Vienna
Breakfast is served in your compartment as you approach Vienna, where the train arrives this morning. The remainder of the day and evening is yours to enjoy at leisure. Once the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, this beautiful city is easy to explore. Why not take a horse-drawn carriage ride past the many architectural splendours of the Ringstrasse.

Day 6 - Vienna
Discover this grand city, perhaps by horse-drawn carriage, before rejoining the Express early afternoon. Enjoy afternoon tea and dinner on board as you continue your journey towards France.

A morning arrival in the romantic city of Paris, where you disembark to continue your journey as per your own arrangements.
