Nuremberg has a diverse cultural programme throughout the year. Highlights include the two open-air classical music concerts, the spectacular "Rock in the Park" event, the East-West Jazz Festival, the Altstadtfest in the old town and the famous Nuremberg Christkindl Markt.

Open-Air Classical Music Festival
Since Nuremberg celebrated its 950-year anniversary in 2000, the classical concerts by the Nuremberg Philharmonic and Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra in Luitpoldhain park at the end of July/beginning of August have become an established part of the cultural calendar and it would be hard to imagine the Nuremberg summer festival programme without them. Around 40,000 music fans flock to the open-air classical music festival each year to enjoy the music and to picnic in the park. Admission is free.

Rock in the Park
90 bands, 3,000 staff, 40,000 visitors – these are the statistics behind Germany's biggest rock event that takes place in late May/early June each year. The bands also play at the Nürburgring.

Nuremberg Christkindl Christmas market
What makes the Nuremberg Christkindl Christmas market so special is its setting against the historic backdrop of Nuremberg's main market square (Hauptmarkt). The traditional mix of gingerbread, fruit bread, bratwurst and mulled wine as well as the glittering gift stalls at Germany's best-known Christmas market put visitors from all over the world in the Christmas mood.
