Zurich is top for leisure and pleasure. Gentle hills, peaceful woods, the unpolluted lakes and rivers, picturesque villages - and all just a stone's throw from the Alps. Zurich is the ideal starting point for all kinds of varied excursions.

Summer holidays in Switzerland have many faces and facets: Hiking and trekking on mountains and in valleys, refreshing trips on one of the many tranquil lakes, action, thrills and new discoveries for children, coupled with relaxation for parents at holiday locations with the Familien willkommen (Families welcome) seal of quality, or holiday by bike along and across the cycling paradise of Switzerland; an expanse of new interconnected cycle routes totalling 3300 kilometres. A unique infrastructure, complete with service centres. And for the very trendy. What about rollerblading and a health and well-being stop, or perhaps a festival visit! No matter which summer holiday you choose, there is one thing we guarantee: Switzerland will always make it an experience. Your only problem is which holiday to choose. I wish you a happy and enjoyable summer holiday!

As a winter paradise in the heart of Europe, we have more to offer than promises of snow. Whether you want to go carving, Skiing, winter hiking or tobogganing; whether you are seeking active adventure or restful peace and quiet, or just want to enjoy the clear sunny heights above the fog. Switzerland is a country of snow and surprises, and it's well worth coming to explore. Please order your brochure now.

The Alps make Switzerland a truly three-dimensional country. From the air or from the valleys, they are spectacular. Swiss glaciers and streams feed the Rhine, Danube and Po rivers.

St. Gallen is the Swiss textile center, providing fabric, lace and embroidery to the great fashion houses. Delve into rare antiquities in the baroque cathedral and the Abbey Library (with 100,000 books and manuscripts dating from the Middle Ages). Explore the Appenzell countryside and Lake Constance to the north.

Zurich is a lakeside garden metropolis. Venerable guildhouses have been converted into restaurants. The Gothic towers of the Grossm church are a landmark; Fraum, church features the splendid Chagall stained-glass windows. Come August, nearly 500,000 young "ravers" parade here. Basel, straddling the Rhine, is a center of art and research, and boasts a world-class fine arts museum and the famous three-day Carnival.

Lucerne, on an idyllic lake surrounded by the Alps, is known for its medieval wooden bridge and its Water Tower. Bern, the capital, has a remarkably preserved Old Town, complete with medieval bear pit. The Bernese Oberland is dominated by the Jungfrau, which rises more than 13,000 feet. The gateway town is lovely Interlaken.

Geneva, the French-speaking city of Calvin, Rousseau and the Red Cross lies at the end of its lake from which the Rhine flows. Also on the lake are Lausanne, known for its cathedral and Olympic Museum, and Montreux, home of the summer jazz festival. The Castle of Chillon is nearby.

Ticino is the Italian-speaking area; major towns include Locarno and Lugano, sun-blessed cities on the shores of mountain-backed lakes. The Graub region to the east is the center of the distinctive Romansh culture and language. Popular resort areas include St. Moritz, Davos, Arosa and Flims.

Switzerland's main international airports of Zurich and Geneva are among the most modern in Europe. They are served by the leading airlines of nearly 100 countries - among them award-winning Swissair and European carrier Crossair - and both airports are linked to the nation's rail network. Smaller international airports are located in Basel, Berne and Lugano.

Thanks to its convenient central location, Switzerland is also served by fast reliable inter-European rail services from at least a dozen countries. Daily services operate from major cities in Germany, Italy, Austria, Spain, France, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Scandinavia, and the Benelux countries. Most trains include dining cars, bars and a wide range of other amenities and - for night travel - comfortable sleeping compartments. For travelers arriving by road, Switzerland is linked to Europe's extensive motorway network. Cross-border travel is trouble free, with the minimum of delay and formalities

The climate is moderate with no excessive heat, cold or humidity. From July to August the daytime temperature range is 18,-27, C and from January to February the range is -1, to 5, C. Depending on the altitude the temperature range may vary. It is highly recommended to pack a sweater, good walking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, a compact umbrella and/or a light rain coat.

Select exactly the components you want in your Switzerland vacation. You choose your hotel, room category -from sea views to suites-, rental car, private transfers and customized sightseeing tours. We do it all! Our Virtuoso Travel and Cruise Consultants will create the Switzerland vacation you have always dreamed of.
