Yasawa Island Resort Activities
Solitude. It’s our favorite pastime at Yasawa. So whatever you choose to do during your stay, you’ll be free to enjoy it in peace. Take a complimentary picnic on a deserted beach. Visit nearby villages to meet the local children or hear the church choir. Swim in the crystal waters of the famous Blue Lagoon or snorkel among corals and tropical fish. Do as much or as little as you choose. All activities at Yasawa are included in the tariff (except spa treatments, scuba diving and sportsfishing).
Beach Picnics Yasawa Island Resort and Spa is surrounded by 11 deserted beaches, each one a private paradise waiting to be visited by you and your loved one. Order champagne and board a boat, armed with a picnic basket prepared by the chef. You’ll be delivered to a beach of your own. Like all meals at Yasawa, a private beach picnic is included in the tariff.
Diving The tropical seas of Yasawa are clear and teeming with marine life. Whether a first-timer or an experienced diver, these waters are yours to explore under the guidance of the resort’s accredited PADI diving instructor and dive masters. With a promise to protect the island’s unspoiled environment, Yasawa takes small groups diving on the spectacular reefs that surround these shores, many of them undiscovered until only recently. A special treat between May and October are migrating manta rays.
Sport Fishing Set out in search of the Pacific’s greatest game fish aboard a state-of-the-art vessel fitted with the finest equipment. The MV Megumi is a 44ft custom-built Assegai designed for serious fishing in serious style. Blue and black marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna, dogtooth tuna, wahoo and mahi mahi are prolific in these seas, making Yasawa a world-class destination for sportsfishing.
Blue Lagoon Caves Hidden beneath a dramatic volcanic peak at the southern end of Yasawa Island are the Blue Lagoon Caves, one of the settings for the 1980 movie starring Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins. Visit this spectacular lagoon and swim within its hidden chambers, linked to the sea by underwater passages.
Cultural On an island overlooked by the modern world, Yasawa offers an intimate cultural experience. With the permission of the chief, guests can visit the nearby village of Bukama where school children offer a welcome in song. Or at the resort, guests might take part in a lovo (feast), witness an evening meke (dance ceremony), or sense the full resonance of Fijian voices when the village choir pays a visit.
Shore Based Yasawa has plenty to offer for anyone who loves to keep active. Land-based activities include tennis on our flood-lit court and volleyball on the beach, or simply set out upon the island’s hiking trails to explore the bays and headlands of this scenic isle. During rugby season, you are welcome to watch rugby matches in the nearby villages.
Water Sports The turquoise sea beckons from every point on Yasawa Island – clear and calm, as fresh as the Pacific air. Swim at any of 11 deserted beaches. Snorkel among vivid corals and tropical fish. A special treat between May and October are migrating manta rays. Try your hand at handline fishing, or take to the water aboard a sea kayak, catamaran or windsurfer.
