Turtle Island Honeymoons in tranquil romantic hideaways.

Travelwizard.com, a Virtuoso Member, was picked by the NBC Today Show to orchestrate the perfect honeymoon destination for their "Throws a Wedding" show. We are very proud that the Today Show turned to Travelwizard.com to find the perfect honeymoon. Travelwizard.com's renowned South Pacific specialists designed the perfect honeymoon to Turtle Island, in Fiji that was chosen for the NBC Today Show
Included in the rate are gourmet meals, private gourmet picnics, fine wines, champagnes and liquors, scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, boating, horseback riding, and accommodations in one of 14 private beachfront cottages.
One such location is Fiji's Turtle Island, a privately owned tropical paradise where a maximum of only fourteen couples are accommodated at any one time. With fourteen beaches (one for each couple) Turtle Island is a hideaway where newlyweds can escape the outside world and relax in luxury and wedded bliss.

"Blue Lagoon", a film starring Brooke Shields was shot on Turtle Island in the late 1970's. The film is certainly not a classic (one critic suggested that the island is named after the film's best actor) but visually it captures the pristine beaches and lush tropical vegetation that prompted "Gourmet Traveler" to proclaim it as "one of the Pacific's most exclusive and admired resort islands". Apart from the obvious attraction of unspoiled, seclude beaches, dramatic sunsets, scuba diving, deep sea fishing and luxury accommodation, Turtle Island is renowned for its superb cuisine. Melboune's master chef Jacques Reymond visits the island four times each year as an advisor overseeing the menu. Many of the ingredients used are grown on the island or taken fresh from the sea. No local wines unfortunately, and there won't be until someone invents a grape that can be grown on tropical islands, but the wine list is top notch, featuring fine wines from Australia, Europe and California.
One special feature of Turtle Island is that the time you spend there will be an island experience, rather that a hotel experience. The accommodation consists of separate bures (Fijian cottages) scattered along the beach at Blue Lagoon. Each bure offers the comfort and serenity of a private holiday home. Meals can be taken on a secluded beach, a mountain top, under the stars, in your bure or with the island's other guests - served at your leisure by warm and friendly staff.
Romantic destination though it may be, Turtle island is not just for honeymooning couples. It is also an ideal getaway for stressed executives, or indeed anyone yearning to experience the peace of a near deserted tropical island with the food and wine of a top class restaurant.
Here's a recent review by Paul Andrews, our Vice President of sales at Travelwizard.com
"Turtle Island, Fiji - Excels in Service! I indulged in a lomi lomi massage, swam and snorkeled in Turtle Island's famous Blue Lagoon, went deep sea fishing in the blue Fiji waters, took a romantic picnic on my own deserted beach, and ate the best food I have ever experienced anywhere! Sound like a dream come true? Turtle Island made my dream become a reality! I can't say enough about Turtle Island and their wonderful staff---they're the best!"
You can have an authentic Fiji wedding on Turtle Island
Imagine celebrating that special day in an exotic tropical setting; meeting your loved one on a white, sandy beach with a warm breeze stirring the air. On Turtle, weddings are special events, and some of our guests' fondest memories are of the delightful Fijian wedding ceremonies held at sunset on the shores of the famous Blue Lagoon.
The bride and groom dress in traditional Fijian wedding attire made especially for them by the Turtle Island staff members. The cloth is tapa, made from tree bark and hand-painted with traditional Fijian symbols in tan, brown and black. All of the guests, along with the bride and groom, wear garlands of fresh, fragrant flowers around their necks.
The trumpeting of conch shells announce the bride's arrival on the wedding raft. Drums beat ceremonial rhythms as the bride disembarks and is escorted to her groom by two Fijian attendants. As they approach the archway of the outdoor altar, they are heralded by a robed Fijian choir.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds are carried on a throne to the wedding lovo, or feast, typically consisting of roast pig, fresh seafood and other local delicacies. No wedding is complete without a cake, so our staff bakes and decorates a traditional, tiered confection worthy of the most sophisticated gathering. Then, under the soft glow of lantern light guests and staff alike raise their glasses in a toast to the happy couple before they retire to their honeymoon bure.
Turtle Island weddings aren't just for newlyweds. They're also a lovely way to renew vows. Our staff will make all the preparations, from the wedding clothes to the wedding feast. Catholic and Methodist clergy are available from neighboring island missions, along with a Fijian choir to sing their traditional selections and you own wedding favorites. Our staff members and guests are also delighted to participate in such a joyous event.
To assure that everything proceeds smoothly, plan to arrive in Nadi on a weekday, at least three days before your wedding day. This allows time to obtain your license before coming to Turtle, time to get acquainted with staff members and fellow guests, for the feast to be planned and wedding garments prepared.
Turtle Island Honeymoons A honeymoon should be a private heaven. A place where romance wraps around you like a cloak; where you need make no decisions, where everything is done for you, and yet where solitude is as easy to find as the sea. Perhaps that is why Turtle Island seems like it was made for newlyweds. For surely there is no more perfect place to celebrate love than in our hidden eden of empty beach and dark-leafed jungle.
Rekindle your relationship on Turtle Island Described as "hyper-romantic" (Conde Nast "Traveler"), Turtle Island offers everything from traditional Fijian wedding ceremonies to French champagne gourmet picnics on one of the island's 14 private beaches in the effort to celebrate and rekindle true love and romance.
Turtle Island Dining A seaside moonlight dinner, a mountaintop cocktail party, an intimate meal by lantern light on a private beach, the settings are as memorable as the fresh, gourmet food. While many couples initially take advantage of the remote dinners for two that can be arranged for them in different locations around the island, most soon become part of Turtle Island's nightly dinner party on the beach. The hedonistic relaxed environment coupled with the contagious warmth of the Fijian people brings guests together.
