This fascinating old town house forms part of the ancient ramparts of the village of Roussillon, celebrated for the ochre-colour of its houses built from the adjacent ochre quarries. Set in the heart of the village, restaurants and village life are literally on the doorstep, although the real bonus here is the private 8m swimming pool, set in a sunny spot on the lower garden level. Old stone stairs, thick walls and rooms on different levels give just some indication of the historical nature of this wonderful old house, which has recently been renovated by its artistic owners to provide excellent contemporary accommodation. Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and combine authentic features such as original stone floors with more contemporary fittings and objets d’art, including a shower room by Phillip Starck. Outdoors, the terrace with its panoramic views and the lower garden level where the swimming pool can be found are the ideal spot to take a plunge and enjoy the Provenal sunshine.
