Elegant country living near prestige Provençal village

On arriving at the end of Côté Sud's private access road, you feel luxuriously lost in the countryside, surrounded by 125 acres of Provençal idyll (and ideal!) - vines, olive trees, truffle orchards and wild garrigue . And yet the village center of Lourmarin, one of the true gems of Provence with its restaurants, cafés, galleries and shops all bristling with local life, is a delightful 20 minute walk away.

This long, low traditional mas seems unassuming at first. But it quickly reveals itself as a marvel of careful renovation, decoration and stylish living spaces. The décor is eclectic and elegant, a mix of antiques and comfortable contemporary. If, as your eyes rise up to a painting above the baroque Italian dresser, you hear yourself saying: “Is that a really by…..?”, it probably is.

Life revolves around the large central table for informal dining in the open-plan American-standard kitchen. The owners entertain frequently and so count on the kitchen being well equipped.

There are several living areas to choose from. The quiet library is perfect for reading or watching a DVD. The large double height main living room is decorated with fine antiques and art, and is a stylish mix Provençal and international furnishings. Smooth polished grey concrete floors (with under-floor heating) are punctuated by light sea grass area rugs. The overall feel is that of a private, luxury boutique hotel.

The lower level apartment is perfect for families. In addition to a separate sitting room and kitchenette, it has an adult bedroom and adjoining twin-bedded young person's room which shares a bathroom.

The guest bedrooms are in the east wing and are all spacious, bright and well-furnished. They each have a private bathroom with high-quality white fittings. The optional master bedroom suite is on the top floor and has a double bathroom and access to a private office.
