Itinerary
Days 1 - 3 - Depart for Lyon, France
Known as the gastronomic capital of France, Lyon is also home to many UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Discover the Fourviere Hill with its Gallo-Roman heritage, and at its foot, picturesque Old Lyon (Vieux Lyon), built as a medieval town, and now the largest display of Renaissance architecture in France. Enjoy lunch at Ostellerie du Vieux Pérouges, built in the 14th century, and stroll through the medieval fortified town of Pérouges.
Day 4 - Beaune
Our first stop in Burgundy is its wine capital, the medieval jewel city of Beaune. The Hospices de Beaune showcase the magnificence of Flemish Burgundian architecture. Following a delightful wine tasting and lunch, we visit Château du Clos de Vougeot and its vineyards. End a picture-perfect day with a hot air balloon ride over Burgundy, followed by a sumptuous dinner at highly-acclaimed Loiseau des Vignes.
Days 5 - 7 - Toulouse & Cahors
Toulouse will dazzle you with the Romanesque architecture of the Saint-Sernin Basilica, the Baroque Le Capitole, and the Canal du Midi, built in the 17th century to link the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea. Gaze at some prehistoric cave paintings inside Pech Merle. Step into Rocamadour’s churches, built against a cliff, and walk the medieval ramparts of Château de Rocamadour. From the medieval town of Cahors with its fortified bridge, explore the vineyards of the Lot Valley.
Day 8 - Saint-Émilion
We’ll stop in Sarlat on our way to Saint-Émilion, a charming medieval village with steep, cobbled streets. Explore Saint-Émilion, situated on a limestone plateau overlooking the Dordogne Valley, and abound with monuments dug into the limestone bedrock.
Days 9 - 11 - Bordeaux & Montbazon
Take a morning stroll through Old Bordeaux before journeying to the famed Châteaux de la Loire—Amboise, Chenonceau Ussé, and Azay-le-Rideau. In Chinon, gaze at the impressive ruins of the fortified castle where Jeanne d’Arc met King Charles VII. Indulge at L’Étape Gourmande, a restaurant set in an authentic 17th-century goat farm.
Days 12 & 13 - Paris
Fall in love with the “City of Lights” as you travel through Paris in your chauffeured vintage Citroën 2CV, the quintessential symbol of French automobiles in the last century.
