Stops are made in Beaune, capital of Burgundy; in Châteauneuf-du-Pape for a wine tasting; in Avignon to see the Palace of the Popes; at Pont du Gard to see the Roman aqueduct; and in Arles, the city where Van Gogh painted more than 300 canvases. Before arriving in Nice, stop in famous Aix-en-Provence and drive through Cannes of film festival fame. Optional excursions to Monte Carlo and the artist town of St. Paul de Vence are available. Day 1
Board your overnight transatlantic flight.
Day 2 Arrive in Paris, France
The day is free to rest or to start exploring the French capital. At 6 pm, meet your Tour Director and traveling companions for a special welcome dinner with wine in one of Paris’ fine restaurants. (D)
Day 3 Paris
Discover the world capital of chic and style Story aboutFrench Fashion There’s more than one way to conquer the world. The flabby, charismatic “Sun King,” Louis XIV, knew that he could impress the French people with his insanely lavish royal lifestyle, but he also wanted to make his mark on Europe. An optional excursion to the baroque Palace of Versailles is available. Tonight a lively cabaret show might be just the ticket. (B)
Day 4 Paris–Beaune–Lyon
A comfortable drive to Beaune, capital of Burgundy. Time for lunch and to explore the attractive little shops before continuing to Lyon, France’s second-largest city. Drive up to FOURVIÈRE HILL with its basilica to enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the city and its Roman ruins. (B)
Day 5 Lyon–Châteauneuf-du-Pape–Avignon
Avignon Palace of Popes–Pont du Gard
Pont du Gard –Nîmes
Stop for a WINE TASTING in famous Châteuneuf-du-Pape on your way to Avignon. Here, walk to the magnificent Palace of the Popes and the bridge of the popular song, and have plenty of time for lunch and to browse through the little shops. Next, stop in Pont du Gard for pictures of the famous 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct, a monumental feat of engineering completed in the year 19 BC, before arriving in Nîmes for your overnight stay. Day 6 Nîmes. Excursion to Arles
Highlight this morning is an excursion to Arles, the city where Van Gogh painted more than 300 canvases. Your orientation features the famous Roman amphitheater. Afternoon and evening at leisure. (B)
Day 7 Nîmes–Aix-en-Provence
See the seemingly never ending lavender fields in Provence–Cannes
Cannes is one of the best known cities of the French Riviera–Nice
The morning is dedicated to Aix-en-Provence, one of France’s most elegant cities. Explore its center on foot, stroll along shaded Cours Mirabeau, admire its famous cafés and fountains, and discover colorful squares. Later, head east past Cézanne’s Mount St. Victoire and drive through Cannes, where you will see the Festival Hall and the Croisette on your way to Nice, the sophisticated “Queen of the Riviera
Promenade des Anglais – promenade along the Mediterranean at Nice, France.” An optional excursion to Monte Carlo is available. (B)
Day 8 At Leisure in Nice
Stroll along the beautiful streets of Nice
Enjoy this enchanting resort on the Côte d’Azur at your own pace. Browse through the elegant shops or stroll along the Promenade des Anglais. Join your Tour Director for a walk through the OLD TOWN and its colorful flower market, and you may wish to join an optional excursion to the famous artist town of St. Paul de Vence. (B)

Your homebound flight from Nice arrives the same day. (B)
