Cyclades Attractions Greece Vacations
Naxos
Naxos is the biggest island in the Cyclades, as well as the most fertile. This wealthy agricultural island exports an abundant harvest of olives, grapes, and potatoes throughout the Aegean, and only recently has begun to import tourists. the island is dotted with more than 500 churches and monasteries, many boasting notable frescoes.

Plaka Beach, Archaeological Museum, Mitropolis Site Museum, Temple of Demeter and The Portara are the best attractions in Naxos. |
Ios
|
The coastline of this predominantly mountainous island with its countless chapels, its olive trees, its vineyards and its limpid air, is adorned with small, attractive coves. Those features combine with the crystal-clear sea, the superb sandy beaches and the good range of amenities to make Ios a magnet for tourists. |

|
By day you can dive, windsurf or water-ski; if you're of the teenage-to-twenties alcohol-swilling persuasion, night time will find you partying in Hora's tiny central square. |
Paros
Paros, the third-largest of the Cyclades after Naxos and Andros, has developed into an important centre of tourism in recent years.

|
Parikia is awash with ferry travellers, but it's well worth stepping back from the waterfront to visit the old town and its 13th-century Venetian kastro.
Naoussa , a laid-back resort with a picturesque fishing village at its core.
Antiparos used to be the quieter alternative to Paros, but now it's a busy tourist spot in its own right. |
|
The cave is awe-inspiring, even though it's been looted for its stalactites and stalagmites - treasures that don't grow back, unfortunately. |
Sifnos
A monotonous gray landscape of rock, broken up here and there by a gleaming white chapel, is the first impression made of visitors as the ferry draws into the harbour.
The island is dotted with dovecotes, white-washed houses and chapels, and it's a magical place to go walking as there are plenty of old paths linking the villages.
Syros
 |
The northern path of Siros is mountainous and the island stands out in general for the variety of the landscape in its hinterland, where hills alternate with low-lying farming areas. |
It's an affluent, lively place, and its wealth is evident in the many restored neoclassical mansions, marble-paved streets and chic backstreet boutiques. |
