Days 5 & 6 - Mykonos at leisure We have two glorious days at leisure to enjoy Mykonos. The island has 9,320 inhabitants most of whom live in the principal town, also called Mykonos but known as Chora, which means ‘the town’ in Greek and is often used in Greece when the name of the island itself is the same as the name of the principal town. Mykonos is composed primarily of granite and has little natural fresh water, relying on the desalination of sea water in order to meet its needs. It is believed that the island was named after a local hero, who is considered an offspring of the god Apollo and was worshipped locally in antiquity. We have time to enjoy a cocktail in a waterfront restaurant and to take a swim at the dazzling beaches surrounding the island. Or maybe take the opportunity to take a short boat ride to the birthplace of Artemis and Apollo, the charming Island of Delos? (Buffet breakfast / Buffet breakfast)

After check-in there is free time to begin to explore Santorini, also known as Thera, which actually comprises of a small circular archipelago of volcanic islands located in the southern Aegean Sea. Santorini is essentially what remains of an enormous volcanic explosion, destroying the earliest settlements on what was formerly a single island, and leading to the creation of the current geological caldera. Its spectacular physical beauty, along with a dynamic nightlife, have made the island one of Europe’s tourist hotspots. This evening we enjoy a Highlight Dinner of local specialties.
