Hawaii Volcanoes Nat`l Park: South out of Hilo, the Hawaii Belt Road 11 leads to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park about 25 miles upslope. The road passes through the small farming towns and communities of Keaau, Kurtistown, Mountain View and Glenwood on its way to Volcano. There are a number of orchid and anthurium farms along the way and some are open to the public. Watch for signs. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is a big attraction. There are numerous adventure activities to enjoy in the park including hiking to the current eruption site (if active), crater walks, observatory museum, visitors center, camping, numerous hikes, picnicking, golf at Volcano Country Club or wine tasting at Volcano Winery.
