A predominant feature of the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel site is the presence of a series of underground springs. In ancient times, during seasons of heavy rainfall these springs would bubble to the surface creating natural artesian fountains.
The resultant streams would provide a source of respite and renewal for travelers along the otherwise dry and barren Kohala Coast. Thus the area was named "Hapuna" or "Spring of Life" in the Hawaiian language.

 The Hapuna Golf Course is an 18-hole championship golf course nestled in the dramatic natural contours of the land from the shoreline to about 700 feet above sea level. In 1997, the U.S. Golf Association named Hapuna "The Course of the Future." This Arnold Palmer/Ed Seay-designed 18-hole championship golf course is nestled into the dramatic natural contours of the land from the shoreline to about 700 feet above sea level. It is a links-style course featuring spectacular views of the Kohala Coast and the Pacific, with snow-capped Mauna Kea volcano as a backdrop. Hapuna Golf Course has been called the most environmentally-sensitive course in the Western region.
 The well-equipped Hapuna Fitness Center at the Hapuna Clubhouse offers the latest in therapeutic massage and a variety of spa treatments, including a unique poi body wrap. In ancient times, poi was not only the staff of life, it was used to treat and beautify the skin.

enjoy days of fun under the sun. While you relax by the
pools or beaches, or play a challenging game of golf at the
renowned Mauna Kea or Hapuna golf courses, your children can
take part in a wide variety of programs including:

It's all part of the Hapuna Beach Resort's year-round kids
program for children from 5 to 12 years of age. Age
appropriate activities are designed by the program counselors
to both entertain and educate the children about the culture,
arts and crafts, and music of Hawaii. Excursions such as
pole fishing and beachcombing, let them experience aspects
of the Island's lifestyle. The program also incorporates
elements of another very popular hotel family amenity, the
Kids Club.
