We came here to get married. My wife lost her father a year ago and we canceled our wedding at home, deciding it would be easier to do it without the usual "traditions." I had my doubts on how she would hold up without her family, but that soon changed.

Danny at the bell desk went far out of his way to make us feel welcome. Shirley in housekeeping set up a beautiful flower display in our room and Rudy, the entertainer, pulled us up on stage and sang the Hawaiian Wedding Song for us so we could have our official wedding dance. Lina took time out to look at our photos with interest, just like family would.

All the extra touches that are what make people feel welcome and want to come back. Hopefully we will very soon!

Kaanapali Beach Hotel Dining at Maui's Most Hawaiian Hotel

One of the many benefits of Hawaii's cultural diversity is that you can taste it! Literally. As each succeeding wave of immigration hit Hawaii's shores they brought with them their homeland's cuisine. Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Portuguese, even the sturdy fare favored by American missionaries from New England. Marry these, blend and mix with the Native Hawaiians' love for food, and the unique flavors of native Hawaiian ingredients, and the result is 'ono (delicious).

At Maui's Most Hawaiian Hotel we take pride in serving our guests the best of Hawai'i cuisine. And Mauians agree. That's why readers of the Maui News, our community newspaper, have voted our offerings "The Best Hawaiian Cuisine."

Auntie Aloha's Breakfast Lu`au

Start your first morning with Auntie Aloha's Breakfast Luau. Hilarious, informative, delicious, and unique, it's the perfect introduction to all that our island has to offer. You'll enjoy a complete buffet breakfast, featuring Kona coffee to compliment your morning favorites, fresh island fruit and local specialties.

Under the direction of Executive Chef Thomas Muromoto all of our food service facilities strive to maintain high standards. Our flagship facility, the Tiki Terrace Restaurant is open for breakfast daily from 7 to 11 a.m. Dinner is served from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Here you will enjoy true Hawai'i style dining - open air, casual, featuring Kulaiwi, or Hawaiian-influenced cuisine. Our guests rave about our selection of fresh island fish and seafood infused with the flavors of Hawai'i. More often than not our guests depart having discovered their new all-time favorite dish. For the hearty appetite our juicy steaks and huli huli (rotisserie) suckling pig are enduring crowd pleasers. Parents are also delighted by our color-it-yourself kid's menus and Children 5 & Under Eat Free policy.

The Tiki Terrace

Our dining staff is ready to make your occasion truly memorable! The Tiki Terrace Restaurant has the honor of having won the prestigious Kahili Award given annually by the Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau in recognition of sharing the culture and history of the Hawaiians with visitors. Our display of photographs and artifacts present the Mahi'ai (farmer) and Lawai'a (fisherman) of ancient Hawai'i and the Hawaiian ambiance of the restaurant, menu, staff and entertainment are all in concert, keeping it Hawai'i.

The perfect complement to your evening of culinary delights is our nightly free Hula Show. Enjoy the rhythms, beauty, and grace of Hawai'i's most famous export, performed by Mauians steeped in the lore and legend of this special dance. Following the show, you'll enjoy dancing under swaying palms to the beat of swinging Island music.

Sunday mornings, an island tradition long a favorite of Mauians and visitors alike, is the Tiki Terrace Sunday Champagne Brunch. Settle in for some serious grazing among a wide selection of traditional brunch items and Hawaiian specialties. Enjoy the free-flowing champagne and Hawaiian entertainment - and don't forget to save room for dessert!

Black Rock Illusions Dinner Show held various nights from Sunday through Thursday in the Kanahele Room is a must see. Maui's premiere magical dining experience features the talents of Jody Baran and Kathleen, illusionists extraordinaire. This cutting-edge, high-energy show incorporates state of the art technology with one-of-a-kind illusions. The magical evening is ideal for guests of all ages! The dinner show includes up-close magic performed by Jordon Hahn, a dinner buffet with cocktails, and a contemporary Polynesian pre-show including the original composition, "Legend of Black Rock".

Golf Courses

Enjoy great golf and panoramic ocean views at Kaanapali. They call it Maui's Golf Coast. Fifteen courses ranging from sun-soaked resort layouts, where all three PGA tours play, to a links course that is a slice of Scotland in Maui's central valley.

West Maui

Just out the front door of Maui's Most Hawaiian Hotel, take a right and five minutes later you're at the Pro Shop at the Kaanapali golf courses. The Tournament North Course is the most challenging. This course winds from the resort to the foothills, with a spectacular par 4 at the beach. You'll need to be alert, and look both ways when you cross the Sugar Cane Train tracks, and you'll need that low draw to keep the ball down in the tradewinds. The Resort South Course, originally an "Executive" layout is less difficult, but no less scenic. Either one is a winner.

Continue your golf odyssey at Kapalua, home to the PGA Tour's annual opener, the Mercedes Championship. Choose from among three award-winning courses. The Plantation, site of the Mercedes features broad fairways, large undulating greens and ocean views beyond compare. The Village Course is more intimate as it twists and turns, climbs and descends through a setting so pristine it is a Nature Reserve. Enjoy the tour of massive stands of Cook and Norfolk pines that define this favorite Maui course. The Bay Course is Kapalua's first and features one of Hawaii's most famous holes - the par 3 5th. The shot is 154 yards from the white tees, almost all over water. Just try to keep your head down!

Central Maui

Drive south and take a left at Ma'alaea and you're on course for Central Maui's Sandalwood, Maui Lani and Wai'ehu venues. Sandalwood hugs the hillside and features some tee shots with over 100 feet of vertical drop. The rough is tough, and the water is wet, but the normally downwind par 5 18th hole will make you feel like Tiger Woods. Maui Lani, adjacent to Kahului is Maui's newest and most unique. A true links course, it winds up through canyons and sand hills. You think your way around this course. If you don't you'll feel like the course has had you! Wai'ehu, Maui's municipal course hugs the north shore. A slice here puts you in the surf line.

South Maui

Maui golf courses offer world class beauty and challenge.South Maui's courses start at Elle Air in Kihei. It's tight, and tough, a shot-maker's delight. Water features require some planning, but a couple of relatively short par 5's will test your go-for-it skills.

Next are Wailea Resort's Blue, Gold and Emerald Courses. The working definition of manicured; these three layouts are everyone's favorites. Wailea boasts an excellent practice facility and the Emerald has been recognized as among the most "Woman Golfer Friendly" courses in America. But don't let that fool you. The Emerald, just like the Gold and Blue, is no pushover. Bring your "A" game - and your camera.

Maui's Golf Coast ends at Makena. Here the North and South Courses go from desert conditions, with cactus-filled rough (yes, there is cactus on Maui!), to hillside tee boxes with views to die for. Makena is courting but has not yet made a name for itself with the PGA. Home of the Hawai'i State Open, Makena is well known for its layout and is a jewel that sparkles at the southern tip of Maui.

For detailed course layouts, more information, rentals and tee times check out the golf web sites mentioned above. For those courses that do not have a web site, you can get their pertinent course information at the  Golf directory. In addition to golf, Uncle Webster is becoming known as the community resource for information and events on Maui.
