Located on Sri Lanka's south-west coast, 85km from the International Airport, the Barberyn Reef Ayurveda Resort is one of few resorts that can be described as being literally "on the beach". Sand stretches for miles along the shore and the resort is sheltered by a long coral reef running the length of the property, forming a natural lagoon ideal for swimming. Accommodation There are five categories of rooms. Beach cottages are the first line of cottages - individual and semi-detached, which are a few feet away from the ocean. Each cottage opens to a terrace, and can sleep two persons.
The next line of Garden cottages is also just a walk across to the beach. The majority have views of the ocean and all open out to a terrace/verandah.
The Deluxerooms are located in two main blocks. Some rooms are adjacent to the health centre, and some are in the main building (close to the reception and dining room) - at ground level. The remainder are on the first floor of the main building
The air conditioned rooms are located on the ground floor of the main accommodation blocks. Each has a terrace opening out to a lawn dotted with frangapani trees or on to the beach. The standard rooms are located on the 1st floor above the air conditioned rooms. Each room has a balcony with views through the foliage to the sea.

The arts and crafts Shop
From naturally dyed, hand woven silks, to colourful, intricate embroideries, artifacts of wood and reed and handcrafted silver - the collection is designed to enable you to take a little treasure back with you -at a fair price.
Conference Facilities Barberyn Reef provides three conference rooms to hold workshops / seminars and forums and these facilities are used by a wide range of government and non-government organizations and companies.
Restaurants
The Restaurants reflects the mood of the resort. Sri Lankan tradition requires that the host shares the food of the house with the guests. The best of ingredients go into the preparation of the meals and the service comes with the quiet efficiency. The management structure of the resort is most evident in the dining room where the waiters work smoothly without instruction from overbearing supervisors.The waiters will gently remind you what you should not eat and an Ayurveda physician or a dietician is on hand at meal times to advise which specific vegetable, herbs and spices to select and at meal times which to avoid according to the prescribed treatment.
Health Centre
For over two decades the Barberyn Ayurvedic Health Centre has been one of the most respected in Sri Lanka. It has been featured in numerous international publications such as Times Magazine, Elle (Italy) and leading newspapers and travel and spa magazines in Asia.The Barberyn Reef Ayurveda Health Centre has a team of specially trained staff members, including resident Ayurveda doctors, therapists, medicine makers and acupuncture specialists.
Yoga
The yoga practiced at Barberyn is the traditional Hatha Yoga (postures) with Pranayama (breathing) It is designed to awaken the Kundalini. This form of Yoga helps to elongate the spine and if one can keep the spine supple, then it can delay the aging process. "You are as old as your spine". At Barberyn there is no pressure to compete and the yoga classes are designed to cater to everyone - beginners as well as advanced students - so no one feels left out. Even the most "stiff as a board" types will be amazed at how quickly their bodies adapt to tackle challenging and complex positions. In just a few days your body rewards you with increased flexibility and stamina. The Yoga classes are free of charge for resident guests.
Meditation
Traditional Buddhist customs are preserved at the resort and guests are free to participate if they wish. The resort also organizes visits to temples, churches and mosques and guests can borrow from the owners' collection of books and audio/ video material on spiritual aspects of life on a range of subjects including "Self Knowledge".Experienced teachers conduct meditation sessions and lectures periodicaly that are free of religious bias or pressure.
