The Cathedral and St. Giacomo

From Piazza Federico II di Svevia, we can admire the facade of the splendid Cathedral.
On the right side of the piazza looms the church of St. James. The facade is sobre-looking and is made up of smooth ashlars in white stone. It's worth taking a look at the Romanesque shapes of the bell-tower that is crowned by a Baroque onion-shaped cupola. Once inside we can feast our eyes on valuable-looking creations, such as the wooden tribunes and the greater altar made of many-coloured varieties of XVIII-Century marble. There are also the two marble-like stoups bearing the symbol of a dove (they date back to the XVIII Century).
Note also the 18th-Century floor consisting of terracotta tiles glazed yellow, white and green with vegetation-like volutes made by local craftsmen. In the church there are even canvases of Paolo de Matteis (XVIII Century) and of Ludovico Vaccaro.
