The museum is housed on the first floor of the Episcopal Palace, attached to the early-Christian and Romanesque Cathedral. It is divided into four rooms: the Exultet (the first word in the Paschal candle benediction prayer) houses the first of four scrolls (1025-28) made up of eight parchment sheets joined with rods; the picture gallery gathers paintings from Bari's diocese churches, among which Christ Resurrected by Andrea Bordoni, the Nativity and The Adoration of , both attributed to painter Corrado Giaquinto (1703-1766) from Molfetta; the Treasury Hall houses liturgical silverware (chalices, pixes, ostensories) as well as reliquaries, a precious 12th-century copper, rock crystal and embossed silver staurotheca and a 14th-century reliquary containing the head of St. Donatus; the epigraphy and sculptures collection displays early-Christian and medieval finds among which the presbytery enclosure by Peregrino of Salerno (13th-century), marble slabs, plutei, coats of arms, and the remains of a mosaic floor.
