The Museum has been set up inside Palazzo d'Accursio, which is the Bologna Town Hall but also a very flourishing cultural centre. There is displayed the most complete collection of all works by Morandi, which is made up of sixty-two oil paintings (selected from 1910 to 1964), eighteen watercolours, ninety-two drawings, seventy-eight etchings, two sculptures and two engraved plates. The works are exhibited in "quiet and spacious" premises, all imbued with that "peculiar light" which comes from every image, translucent like the limpid atmosphere typical of the hills around Bologna .
While visiting the Museum, in addition to his works, you can also have a look at his study- room, which has been rigorously reconstructed by using the original furnishings and tools. There is also an area in which are on display works from his own private art collection, some of his personal belongings, as well as few family portraits etchings. Last but not least, you can also enjoy the library-archives in which are catalogued his own art and literature volumes together with a vast amount of historical documents relevant to his life and his works. A book shop is available, guided tours are offered upon reservation as well as reduction in admission fees. Air-conditioned premises and facilities for the disabled.
