Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Florence

Upon arrival into Florence, a representative from Wine Tours of the World will meet you in the baggage claim area. You will be driven to the luxurious Hotel Lungarno that overlooks the Arno River for an early check-in. After check in, you will have some free time to get settled and relax. In the late afternoon, meet your guide in the hotel lobby for your first Italian wine tasting paired with a wonderful assortment of fresh Italian cheese. Next you will have a walking tour of Florence by night followed by a dinner reservation at Ristorante La Loggia. The restaurant is known for their hand-made pasta dishes and incredible views of the city skyline.

Day 2 The Sites of Florence

Breakfast at the hotel, and then meet your guide once again in the lobby for a full day of sightseeing in Florence. Visit places such as the Accademia Delle Belle Arti, where you can admire some of the world’s most famous works like Michelangelo’s “David.” You will also see other sites including the Cathedral complex and Giotto’s Bell Tower. In the afternoon, you will have time to shop and visit the leather factory. This afternoon, your guide has arranged another wine tasting at a local Italian bistro. You can sit outside the café to people watch as you sip on a flight of red and white Italian wines. Dinner this evening is at your leisure. Your guide is available to assist with dinner reservations and transportation.

Day 3 Chianti and Siena

You will want an early breakfast this morning so you can begin your journey to Siena, wine tasting in the Chianti area along the way. Your first private tour and tasting will be in the cellars of Il Molino Di Grace. Then it is off to Radda for lunch and a private tasting at Brancaia. After lunch you will stop at another winery in Chianti before checking into your 4-star hotel located in Siena. Along route today, you will also have the opportunity to taste the marvelous local foods such as olive oil, balsamic vinegar and prosciutto. Upon arrival into your hotel, take time to freshen up and then meet your guide in the lobby once again for dinner. This evening your personal reservation will be waiting for you at Trattoria di Fonte Nuova.

Day 4 Montepulciano and Montalcino

Today your wine adventure continues as you sip your way through the wine areas of Montepulciano and Montalcino. The wine estates have been carefully selected for you with private wine tours and tasting at Castello Banfi, Biondi Santi, Fattoria Santavenere – Casa Vinicola Triacca and La Colonica. A vineyard and winemaking tour with lunch will be included today. This evening, you may wish to have a nice quiet dinner at your hotel, or your guide is available to assist you with reservations.

Day 5 Perugia Umbria

After breakfast this morning you will meet your guide for your scenic drive to Perugia before checking into beautiful Hotel Perusia e La Villa. After check-in, your guide will deliver you to your personal Italian cooking class. You will sort through several classic Italian recipes until you have created the perfect menu. You will then be guided on how to prepare and present your meal. Before you dive into your freshly made cuisine, your personal sommelier will assist you in selecting the perfect wines for your recipes. Then you will have time to enjoy your meal. After lunch, you will be driven to Assisi, where you will have the rest of the day for touring, shopping and sightseeing. This evening, your dinner reservation will be waiting for you back at the hotel restaurant.

Day 6

Wine production in Umbria is limited, but the quality is outstanding. Today you will visit the wine cellars of Poggio Bertaio and Arnaldo Caprai. You will have lunch and a wine tasting at a local bistro before heading back to your hotel. But first, you will stop to indulge in a chocolate tasting. You will taste some of Italy’s finest confections. Before your dinner reservation this evening, you will have a spa treatment scheduled in the privacy of your own room. Dinner tonight will be at the restaurant of your choice. Your guide is available for suggestions and reservations.

Day 7 Orvieto and Rome

As you head towards Rome today, you will wine taste in the Orvieto region. You will have private tours and tastings waiting for your arrival at La Carraia and Decugnano Dei Barbi. Lunch will be en-route. Once you arrive into Rome, you will check into your selected hotel. This evening, your guide has arranged a special Roman tour by night. Your personal dinner reservation will be at one of Rome’s most romantic and intimate restaurants.

Day 8 Journey home or Rome Extension trip.

After breakfast, you will have the morning at leisure. Then it is off to the airport where you will begin your journey home. Or you will begin your extension trip starting with a grand tour of Rome. Visit the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel passing through Piazza della Republica with the Fountain of the Nayads, and follows the ancient Aurelian Walls, once surrounding the city of Rome. You will see the famous Villa Borghese gardens and the northern gate of the ancient city leading into Piazza del Popolo, where you will see an Egyptian obelisk dating back to the time of Ramses II. Your tour includes the Gallery of the Tapestries and the Gallery of the Geographical Maps before arriving at the famous Sistine Chapel with its magnificent fresco of the Last Judgment by Michelangelo.
OR You may wish to travel to Ancient Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast to explore the preserved ruins dating to 80 B.C. Your tour includes visits to homes of Pompeii's rich and famous, an ancient street café tour, where you will learn about traditional Roman cuisine. See the amphitheater where the Gladiators once took center stage. After your in-depth tour of Ancient Pompeii your guide will drive you down to Positano where you can enjoy a stroll around the narrow alleys. Positano is a delightful spot along the Amalfi coast. See the white and pastel-colored houses that line the steep hillsides to find beautiful beaches and an ancient fishing port below. Enjoy shopping and tasting your way through many artisan shops. Lunch will be served at a restaurant with superb views of Positano and the coastline. Then your guide will escort you to the port where you will embark on a boat tour of the Amalfi Coast that will take you to the Mediterranean town of Amalfi. Your tour begins with a sip of Lemoncella and includes a tour of the town of Ravello that sits high up above the Amalfi Coast. Dinner will be included before heading back to Rome.

Day 9 More of Rome

After breakfast this morning you will be guided through a walking tour of Rome. You will visit the best sites of ancient Rome, including the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, Capitoline Hill, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and Piazza Navona. While the city is breathtaking on its own, your personal and professional guide will bring an added dimension to the city. Learn the history, politics and architecture of the Eternal City that will make the times of ancient Rome come to life. Then it is off for a lunch and wine tasting aboard a private vessel as you make your way down the Tiber River. See Rome like it has never been seen and explained before! The Tiber River will lead you into the heart of the city. Leaving from Ponte Sant'Angelo dock, sail towards Tiber Island then back up to Ponte Risorgimento before returning to Sant'Angelo dock. Enjoy commentary as you sail down the river as you discover over 2755 years of ancient history. Dinner is at your leisure this evening. Your guide is available should you request dinner reservations.

Day 10 Free Day

Today you may want to enjoy the day at leisure. Or, continue on in the footsteps of Professor Langdon and take the Angels and Demons tour. During this incredible journey, you will discover the Illuminati and their secrets. You will learn how to understand and solve the many puzzles and enigmas that await you. The rest of the day and evening is at your leisure. *Note - - A 13 hour tour to Capri and the Blue Grotto is also available upon request.

Day 11 Departure Home

This morning you will have time to do your last minute shopping to collect souvenirs or gift items you may wish to bring home. In the afternoon, your driver will transfer you to the Rome airport where you will begin your journey home.
