Imago

Hotel Hassler, Rome, Italy Vacations, Honeymoons and Luxury Travel Packages

Roberto E. Wirth, the Hotel Hassler’s owner and General Manager, inaugurated Imago, the Hassler’s newly renovated panoramic restaurant, on December 5th, 2006, with a new name and a brand new look.

Enviably situated in one of the highest spots in the city’s center - at the top of the Spanish Steps, Imago’s inauguration marked the 50th anniversary of Rome’s very first panoramic restaurant (it was opened earlier than 1956, but only as a tea room). Since it first opened its doors, this timeless restaurant has welcomed the most famous celebrities, politicians, aristocrats, intellectuals and artists. From Juan Peròn to Audrey Hepburn, from the Kennedy’s to Princess Diana, everyone has come to the Hassler and its famous restaurant to savor the most breathtaking view in Rome and the Dolce Vita

The décor has been completely renovated to now give even greater value to the stunning panoramic view. From the Villa Borghese gardens to the Trinita dei Monti Church, to Piazza di Spagna with its famous fountain “La Barcaccia”, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Pantheon and the Sant’Agnese Church by Borromini on the Piazza Navona - these are just some of the landmarks among the domes and rooftops that personify Rome as one of the most romantic and memorable destinations for all travelers from time immemorial.

Taller and wider windows, tables made of mirror, harmonious and classical shapes and colors in terms of tableware, white marble flooring with antique-wood inlay are just some of the elements that have contributed to a more contemporary yet classical look, without losing any of its traditionally elegant atmosphere.

Imago’s Chef Francesco Apreda delights guests with his carefully planned menus comprising delectable dishes such as Beef Tartare dressed with Beetroot shoots, Pumpkin, Chicory Hearts and Caviar or Ravioli filled with Crab Meat in a Parsnip and Saffron Sauce and desserts to die for such as Chocolate and Lime Fritters with a Persimmon and Szechuan Pepper Sauce. Naturally talented with his own creative flair for associating a touch of the exotic to the traditional flavors of Italian cuisine, Francesco Apreda is one of the youngest Chefs in the city. His exceptional clarity of vision on how to run his kitchen led him to design Imago’s new kitchen, choosing induction cooking technology for its valuable benefits. Our guests get a glimpse of it through a window to their right as they enter the restaurant that looks on to the pastry corner and out beyond to the Villa Borghese gardens framed by the kitchen’s large windows. Our Chef believes that superb cuisine is not only something to be tasted, but also to be seen and felt… an experience that encompasses all the senses.

Imago…the word itself derives from Latin, and means “image”. It also means “vision, dream, apparition, view, thought, memory, and fairy tale.” The view of Rome, almost as an apparition, a dream that leads one to a dream world or fairy tale.

Imago is one of the most romantic places in the world to take someone special. It is also available for small groups up to 12 people and seats a total of 65. An array of personalized menus can be organized and prepared according to your wishes.

Hotel Hassler Salone Eva

Salone Eva, newly renovated in 2001, is a warm, inviting room adorned with an extensive collection of eighteenth and nineteenth-century books. At the salon, all guest desires are met: a light breakfast, lunch, dinner, or an afternoon tea. A large selection of Italian wine by the glass is also offered.

The Hassler Bar

The Hassler Bar, right behind Salone Eva, is the perfect place for an "aperitivo" or your after-dinner-drinks.

In this luxurious setting accompanied by delightful piano music, you will enjoy a tranquil atmosphere similar to that of an English Club, your every need looked after by Barman Luigi Berardi and Maitre Andrea Moschetti.

Princess Diana confessed to Mr. Wirth to have enjoyed one of the world's best "Bellinis" here …although she could not resist to one of the famous "Veruschkas," a potent mix of pomegranate juice, vodka and champagne!

Hotel Hassler Palm Court Garden
During the summer season the Hassler Bar moves to the outdoor Palm Court, set in a tranquil garden surrounded by a wide variety of plants. Get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city for a drink or meal in this private slice of paradise.

Hotel Hassler Il Palazzetto
Entirely restructured using the very best in modern technology, while respectfully preserving its historical integrity, Il Palazzetto houses a restaurant, 4 boutique hotel rooms and the International Wine Academy of Roma. It is a timeless architectural treasure as only Rome can offer. Founded by Mr. Roberto Wirth, proprietor of the Hassler, Il Palazzetto is only a step away from the hotel and hosts Rome’s most prestigious wine events.

Hotel Hassler Il Palazzetto Restaurant & Wine Bar, located on the 2nd floor, offers traditional Roman cuisine with a playfully modern twist using only the freshest seasonal ingredients. Over 400 wine labels fill the pages of the restaurant’s wine list, from the most famous to small hard-to-find producers. Have a memorable dining experience either in the warmth of our indoor Library Room and Salon or the outdoor garden as you delight in the creations of Chef Vincenzo di Tuoro, whose repertoire will pleasantly surprise even the most knowledgeable palate.

Hotel Hassler Il Palazzetto Restaurant includes the following:
The LIBRARY Room, 2nd floor, whose shelves display an extensive range of important eno-gastronomical literature. The library is used as a dining space for private luncheons or meetings and also as a tasting room, with a seating capacity of 22.

Our outdoor GARDEN, also on the 2nd floor is a romantic and dreamy spot which can host up to 120 people, also for private events such as business cocktail parties, wedding receptions and so on. This secret garden, jealously watched over by the statue of Bacchus, could not be located any closer to the heart of Rome: its furthest ivy-covered wall is part of the Spanish Steps.

The WINE BAR, 2nd floor, offers a comfortable yet elegantly decorated lounge where to enjoy a glass of great wine by the fireplace. This in turn invites one to linger and choose yet another glass from over 400 different wine labels accompanied by a wide selection of gourmet cheeses, cured meats and other tantalizing hors d'oeuvres. Our professional barman is always available to discuss the merits of one wine over another and to answer any of your questions. The convivial and friendly atmosphere makes this the perfect place to sit back and relax.

The TERRACE is the place to see and be seen in Rome. Enjoy a sensational view the Spanish Steps, the Piazza di Spagna and its famous Barcaccia fountain and over the rooftops of Rome. It is the perfect place to organize a memorable cocktail party for up to 60 people or to enjoy a fabulous lunch menu. In the afternoon, our Terrace becomes a romantic place to meet for cocktails as the Roman sunset stretches its orange and pink hues around St. Peter’s and the city rooftops.
